I like Abreu in the 3 hole. It was just a s***** AB IMO.

Don't you usually put your best hitter or second best hitter in the three hole? What has concerned me early this season about Bobby is that he seems to be having a lot of s***** AB's when the pressure should be on the pitcher considering who is on deck. He's going to see strikes. I think Cano would be more equipped to take advantage of those strikes.

now Hughes has lost the zone. Wonderful

How many pitches has he thrown? Remember, he's been on that strict PC in the minors. He's really not ready to throw in a big league game in my opinion, especially considering how badly the Yankees need length. There is no way that Hughes is going deep in the game.

68 now. He likely has only 5 in him.

OK, huge batter right here. The way Burnett is throwing every single run is so important. Too bad it's a righty.

Nice, now the heart of the order. LETS GET SOME RUNS!!!!

I wouldn't be shocked if we didn't see him in the fifth, but we probably will. However, you're right, there is no chance he goes past that.

good inning for Hughes again. I like this kid. He is unflappable. And has some serious stuff. For a changeup that they call a work in progress, it is pretty damn good and he has some serious confidence in it. Havent seen the slider yet.

Nobody was warming and he is at 77 pitches. He'll go one more. If he didnt have that 30 pitch first, he's be alright right now.

He thought he had it. Too bad, because they really need a spark the way Burnett is throwing.

EDIT: Giambi really should have hit that. Abreu's and Giambi's starts have not thrilled me.

Give me a break. He is so slow, they need baserunners, someone needs to tell him to stop.

EDIT: Really nice tag, I like the effort by Giambi but they need to get guys on base. However, I think they're starting to get better reads on Burnett's stuff. Three walks and A-Rod nearly popped one out of there. Matsui also looks good so far in his one + game.

Pena needs to be on that. Garbage f***ing play, he was out by a f***in mile. Douche.

this team is so f***in stupid sometimes. You have Burnett throwing too many pitches and clinging to the ropes and you give them an out like that. Sheer ********.

I would agree, sometimes it seems like they're not really thinking too much out there.

By the way, another concerning point in terms of the offense at this point in the season is that they're doing a good job of getting ahead in the count but the hitters don't really seem to be taking advantage of that. The offense's runs per game has been good, but most of the time it seems like A-Rod is working his tail off and everyone else is lagging far behind.

Obviously the major problem has been pitching, but I'm not thrilled with the performance of some of the hitters, mainly Abreu and Giambi. Also, in terms of thinking on the field, I tend to think that the biggest culprit is Abreu. His body language reminds me of Manny at times, it's just too bad he doesn't swing the bat like Manny.

It is stupid to carry Cairo on this roster. If you're Brian Cashman you have to say to yourself, what is the infielder on this team that misses the most games? The answer to that is Derek Jeter, he always seems to have nagging injuries and he misses games here and there. So when you're looking for someone to play shortstop why are you getting a guy with a second basemens arm? It's not like he's even decent at the plate. Just as an example, that play would not have even been close at first base if Cairo did not have to round that ball to set himself up for a stronger throw.

EDIT: I realize I'm being picky by having a problem with the Yankees choice of a backup infielder, but it was just on my mind.

this team really sucks. Seriously' date=' they suck right now. Suck suck suck.[/quote']

You can't blame the team for this game, Burnett is throwing really well right now and I think it's an absolute joke that they called up Hughes for this game. Of all the options they had the worst one was to choose a guy who is simply not capable of giving them length. He showed some good things tonight, but he is clearly not ready. I will be very upset if they give him another start.

I wont be. I thought he pitched well. Unfortunately, the yankees have been babying him to such a serious degree that he is nothing more than a 5IP pitcher right now. But he has the stuff. He has the swing and missability. He got f***ed by an ump this inning, which would have just ended without a run, instead of 2.
