I thought Burnett was pitching.

Jeter's not playing tonight; Joe said he was going to, but he's not in the lineup. Ugh...got to see Cairo play...:thumbdown

Mientkiewicz batting 2nd?

.....WHAT THE HELL? This must be a joke or an error...

Unless he is like 10 for 10 with 9 HRs (has he hit that many in his career?) against who's pitching, there's no way this guy should be near the top of the lineup.

Maybe he's been trying to get fired all along, but he hasn't done enough yet, so he's going all out? Still, it's nowhere near as bad as the Cincinati lineup from a few days ago.

Haha Mienky batting 2nd. OBP OBP! ;) . Question, shouldnt Josh Phelps be the starting 1st baseman by now?

ORS, I just know for a FACT that the game will come down to some Minky AB in that slot. I just hope we can outpitch them, as this lineup is just ridiculous.

At least Cairo is not in the OF.

Probably so. Joe's decisions this year have all come up craps.

Leadoff single by Rios. Left it over the plate.

SB by Rios as posada dropped the ball.

1-2 on Lind. 68mph curve after a 94mph heater.

K's Lind with the 94mph heat. 1 down.

Hughes misses with the curve to Wells. 94 mph heat on the outside corner, 1-1. Misses low with the heat, 2-1. Wells with the RBI double off the wall, Jays lead 1-0.

94 mph at the knees to Thomas, 0-1. Misses with the curve, 1-1. Nice curve at the knees, 1-2. Ump squeezes him on a great 4 seamer, 2-2. Misses low, 3-2. Heater fouled off. RBI single on a great pitch by Thomas, 2-0 Jays.

Are you serious?

Arroyo is a curveball pitcher. Have you seen him pitch. He throws it at several different speeds with varying breaks. So, yeah, I am serious.

So, because Arroyo throws multiple curveballs, that makes his curveball better?

Right now it probably is, but give the kid a chance ot develop.

Even though AJ Burnett is not exactly your perfect pitcher (because he gets injured so often) Phil should really watch how he pitches to these batters. Burnett and Hughes are very similar in a lot of aspects, including kinds of pitches and velocity, but there is a big difference. At this point, Phil really just doesn't know how to set up counts and hitters. Burnett is very good at that. If he could only stay healthy he'd sure be something to watch.

I'm a Hughes fan, but this is just a little too early. For one, he isn't stretched out and he just doesn't have enough experience. By the way, I'm not reacted to the fact that he gave up two first inning runs.

Thomas hit a great pitch. Hughes has some butterflies goin.

Why are you pitching Thomas away? He loves to extended his arms and drive the ball to the opposite field or straight away center. Try to throw the ball under his hands, like the 1-2 pitch. I'd really like to see him drop his hands on a 95 MPH fastball and line it into left.

Well, he set up the batter nicely there.

Torre's head is up his... well you get the idea.

Well how do you want him to set the lineup up? He'd rather people like Cano batting lower in the lineup so they come up in more RBI situations. Obviously you want to get people on for Abreu and A-Rod, but he probably thinks that if Damon gets on Minky will see a lot of fastballs and that might get him going a little bit.

By the way, finally a Yankee starting pitcher who can strike someone out.

Edit: He's a very good bunter.

If he's batting second, you're not going to get a lot of RBI chances.
