You sure about that? Personally' date=' I'd like to see Pete Rose in the hall of fame because from watching old highlights of him, he seemed to play the game the way it was meant to be played and he was one of the most successful players in history while racking up extraordinary statistics and feats. Nevertheless, to say that a manager placing bets on his own team doesn't impact the game is absurd. Rose's admissions have come out piece by piece and he just recently came clean about betting on his Reds while managing. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he bet against his team on certain days when his #5 starter was on the mound. I forget where I heard these whispers but appearently some of Rose's quotes during his managing days were less than complimentary for this certain starter and many have assumed that he bet against his team from time to time. There is no evidence to back this up but even if he didn't bet against his team, betting for his team still destroys the integrity of the game and defeats the entire purpose of why the sport is played. The decision of allowing or disallowing Rose into the hall of fame is a difficult one, however his sin to the same league and game that made him so famous and rich should not be overlooked.[/quote']

What I mean is making a bet isn't gonna help the team win. Where as steroids can. See my point?

are you serious??

what if he had the dodgers over the reds and he was managing the reds??

what if he bet over 8 runs and it was a 6-1 game in the 9th??

1st of all they should burn down cooperstown if they dont have rose in the hall

but consider all the things a manager can do to change the games outcome, especially if hes throwing 1000s of bucks on each game?

then compare that to bonds, who was doing what 100s of ballplayers were doing, including pitchers, including a lot of redsox players and i am sure future hall of famers as well who slipped under the radar.

your analogy is way off base in my opinion and singling bonds out is simply ******** because hes approaching hank aarons record

Bonds hasn't homered in quite a while. He is still at 745, making it very unlikely that he will be 1-2 away from the record when the Giants come to Fenway, which is 21 games away (June 15). I seriously doubt that he will hit it anywhere but San Fran though.
