Too soon?

BOSTON RED SOX (12-5) vs. TORONTO BLUE JAYS (8-10)

PITCHING MATCHUP

Tim Wakefield (2-1, 1.35 ERA)

Wakefield's knuckleball has been in top form in his first three starts; he's allowed one earned run each time out. Lifetime against the Jays, Wakefield is 13-8.

Tomo Ohka (0-2, 7.02 ERA)

Ohka turned in his best start of the young season last time out, limiting the Red Sox to four runs on four hits in 6 1/3 innings. The right-hander carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before yielding the first of three solo home runs in defeat. That trip to the mound was Ohka's only career appearance against Boston, but he pitched for the Red Sox for parts of the 1999-2001 seasons. Ohka is 3-8 with a 3.95 ERA in 17 career games at Fenway Park.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Jonathan Papelbon has converted all six save chances this season and is a perfect 16-for-16 in his career during April after closing out the Yankees on Sunday night.

(This doesn't make sense. Papelbon should be unavailable tonight.)

GAME PREVIEW

Red Sox Carry Momentum vs. Jays

resh off their first home sweep of the Yankees since 1990, the Red Sox look to continue their winning ways against the Blue Jays in the opener of a two-game series at Fenway Park on Monday night. The Red Sox have won a season-high five straight games and eight of nine overall.

They took two of three from the American League East-rival Jays last week at Rogers Centre, while Toronto is in the midst of a season-high five-game losing streak.

The Red Sox will send knuckleballer Tim Wakefield to the mound against Jays right-hander Tomo Ohka. The two hurlers matched up last Wednesday night in Toronto, with Wakefield and the Sox prevailing, 4-1, as Doug Mirabelli, David Ortiz and Mike Lowell all homered off Ohka.

Wakefield allowed just four hits and one run over seven strong innings.

"He can't be as good as he was last time we faced him -- he was lights-out," Jays second baseman Aaron Hill said.

The series against Toronto marks the end of a stretch that has Boston playing 10 of 13 at Fenway Park.

The Sox are in the second stop of a three-city, seven-game road swing against AL East opponents to face the Jays, who are two games under .500 for the first time this season.

"It's just April and you're playing in your division, and I think that's how most teams break in [the season]," said Red Sox right fielder J.D. Drew. "You just want to accumulate wins and do it early if you can."

Toronto went 6-3 at Fenway Park last year.

Well if Wake can get the knuckler working like it was in the last start against Toronto then the Jays are in some serious trouble. And if Ohka pitches like Ohka can then Boston will be scoring alot of runs. Gonna miss this game though I gotta work but thankfully I still own a VCR lol.

Wake's gonna go 7 frames, give up just 2 runs, and get the win. Mirabelli will finally cool down and go 1 for 4 with a single (I hope im wrong though...), Papi will blast his 7th HR with 2 on. Manny will hit his 3rd HR of the season and we will win 8-3, with the pen giving up a run in the 9th.

wonder if the knuckler will be dancing tonight. Can the pitch of chaos continue to flutter in his favor.

Historicaly, when Wake has had it going he usually keeps it going for awhile. However, there has also been times when he is going great and he gives up a bunch of runs. Wake has gotten to the point where he usually doesn't completly implode and gives us atleast 5 innings even when he doesn't have it.

I hope we don't see an emotional letdown after the weekend though. But I like the pitching matchup and the Jays are still hurting so we should be ok

But when he loses it, he doesnt lose it like most pitchers. He gets absolutely clobbered. Such is the curse of the pitch of chaos.

We are still at home where the offense has clicked. This team hsa to learn to win the away games that it is supposed to win. It can't be dropping road games to road kill teams like KC.

You're trying to make yourself look good through comparison with a member who was banned a very very long time ago after being ridiculed by everyone here. You should set your target a little higher, dontchathink?

This is a joke.

No way is this a real poster.

I would think he was fake but he has yet to fawn over one specific movie 24/7. He has the spelling/grammar down though.
