Pretty unshocking. We see it from the Sox too, work the counts, make it scarry to pitch. We'll get 'em back. Beckett didn't look bad.

I know how long the game is, but this kid throws a bunch of strikes, so when he grooves one I want to see them jump on it. He'll get a lot of stuff on the corners nibbling, and those aren't the ones to hit.

ORS, I know you know how long a game is. You also know that the job of a leadoff hitter is not necessarily to swing at the first pitch, or the second, of the game.

That's true, but even in home-run derbys hitters will take a pitch or two to get the trajectory and speed or whatever. No biggie.

The hitter that frustrates me most in that regard, ORS, is Youkilis. He has such a reputation as a pitch taker that he if he could plant one over the wall occasionally he would likely get ahead in counts more often, draw more walks, score more runs, etc.,
