Yes. Bochy's a terrible in-game manager. Bonds' spot is due to leadoff the bottom of the tenth. With the Yankees' lineup, I really don't see how Bochy could have taken Bonds out with a one run lead. It just doesn't make sense.

I can't say that move was flat out wrong. He's been awful in the field. They played to win and went with a defensive replacement with a 1-run lead in the 9th. That's not a bad move.

 

How funny is it to see a $200M+ team with Miguel Cairo playing every day?

Yeah, his defense isn't the greatest, but knowing how quickly the Yankee offense can erase that 1-run deficit would make me leave Bonds in just in case. Just have him play to keep everything in front of him. If this were any other team I would most likely agree with the move (most likely being the key words), but I don't agree with it here. Maybe a 2- or 3-run lead, but not 1.

 

And yes, I love seeing Miguel Cairo out there everyday for them.

But wouldn't good defense and the ability to take away baserunners or limit extra bases be that much more important in the 1-run game? You can give up a run or two in a 3-run game.
