I think that was an intentional hit. 2 outs, and i think it was the first pitch, cant remember. Tek and Daisuke had no reaction whatsoever, plus he missed Teks spot pretty badly

Every time he hits right into the shift, he reinforces its use. I'd put one down the 3B line every game until teams played me straight up.

they'd rather have Ortiz slapping down 3rd every time than having Ortiz hit a tater.

As you know, that's easier said than done.

Less outs is less outs, and that's more runs with Manny and Drew to follow. If he started doing it, they'd have to adjust, because over time those two will drive him in.

right, but he wont be able to place it every time.

Id love to see Ortiz come up in the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, two outs with a tie score, and while everyone on the opposing team is backing up a mile and crapping their pants, see him lay down a bunt.

Teach him to frigging bunt and lay one down every once in a while' date=' there is still Manny and JD[/quote']

He has done that in the past rather effectively. It's just not reliable.

He's done it late in games when down by more than a run before, if I remember correctly.

Nasty split for a K there.
