Yes, get him ejected in the first preferably. That would be the best thing for the Red Sox. Screw it, hit Ichiro in the head. Show him who the real Japanese stud is.

Do you have Dice-K drill Guillen tomorrow?

Nah, Donnelly was in the game long enough to plunk Johjima after everything transpired with Guillen...I don't think anything will happen tomorrow unless Manny/Ortiz/Drew gets buzzed. I don't see that happening unless the game gets out of hand either way. The ball is in the Mariners court, so to speak.

If ANYONE on the sox gets buzzed, Guillen should get one in the chops. Other than that, no need to keep anything going by head hunting. Only if we are being... head hunted.

It would be a ballsy ump who tosses Matsuzaka in his home opener if he lets one slip up and in to Guillen. I imagine he'll establish the inside and then those slips look a little more natural but can still send a message.

wait' date=' I'm confused. What happened now?[/quote']

Donnelly and Guillen have a little bit of a history going back to when they were teammates and then when Donnelly was tossed in a game against the Nationals for having pinetar on his glove. Donnelly K'ed Guillen Tuesday and the two exchanged words...Guillen started to walk towards the mound and he got tossed. The next batter was Kenji Johjima and Donnelly plunked him and got tossed. The benches cleared, but no punches were thrown.

To be all kinds of honest with you...I don't hate the idea of Matsuzaka throwing up and in hard on Guillen. Unless a warning is issued at the beginning of the game, I can't see the ump tossing DiceK for one pitch. If anything, it'll prompt a warning to be issued in which case Hernandez loses some of his ability to pitch inside and, should he choose to throw up and in on someone, we get him bounced from the game. I'd much rather face the Mariners long men than King Felix.

Thatd be pretty unselfish of Matsuzaka to throw at Guillen at any point in time, seeing as today is his day, and if he were tossed he would get a lot of respect from his teammates IMO. Depnding on the situation, he would get respect from the fans as well. However, it would be stupid to draw first blood, let Seattle go afetr someone first.

They already drew first blood by having the benches clear for no reason.

Also, no way would Matsuzaka get pulled and no way to I advocate him doing it early. I am talking 6th, 7th inning if he is still around and in the legs.

Theres no way any umpire would have the balls to throw Dice-K after one pitch and no warning. I dont think Dice-K should throw at Guillen, but i think he should pitch inside to him and let him who is whose bitch.

That would really throw ESPN for a loop. They have been building up dicek and i'm sure they have a ton of japenese stuff ready to roll tonight, so it would really screw them up if he put one in his chops in the first and got tossed!

I actually don't think they can toss him...as far as I know, you can't throw a pitcher out of a game for throwing at a batter unless a warning has been issued previously. Any umps know the official rule on this? There is the possibility that a warning will be issued before the game even begins, in which case, one pitch could do it. I think we're talking about nonsense because I don't feel it's going to happen...but it's fun to theorize anyways.

Reputation is a key factor in the way umps treat pitchers.

Right now Matsuzaka doesn't have one.

Let's leave it that way as opposed to carving a negative rep in his 2nd ever start in MLB.

IMO, there's is less to be gained by him plunking someone than there is to be lost. Leave the plunking to the bullpen at this point.

Tito was just on with Dale N Holley and said that the plunk yesterday was an accident. He said they had been pitching inside all day to him and that one just got away. Donnaly apparently said something to the effect of "the timing looks bad, but it was an accident" Tito hopes there is no carryover to tonight!

I don't even think the HBP was intentional.

Me neither, there was know reason for Donnelly to hit Johjima, I mean he just got a strikeout and the bench clearing argument between Donnelly and Guillen was uncalled for in the first place...

So, No I don't think Dice-K should hit anyone in this game, he should go out and pitch how he does and own the Mariners like he did the Royals... 15 Ks? 20? haha... you never know...

if matsuzaka's running out of gas and its timed perfectly with guillen being up i personally would be pumped to know that we have a guy with balls enough to hit somebody like that, from what i've seen from him it doesnt seem as if he would do that. the crowd would go absolutely nuts if he did though

Don't confuse balls with testosterone-induced stupidity.

There's no reason whatsover for Matsuzaka to hit anyone with a "purpose pitch" right now. He certainly does not need it to endear himself to the fans or his teammates. With all the media attention and pressure on already, why invite more?

If I'm Tito I'm telling him to ignore all that s*** and just pitch.

Oh there is certainly no reason for it until proven otherwise, and even if he were given a reason to hit one of their guys i still think he should let the pen take care of it. Also i dont think Tito has to be telling Dice-K anything because to me he just doesnt come across as the type of guy who would throw at someone intentionally, at least not while he is in the international spotlight on espn anyways.

the only thing is... it would still be pretty cool to see

true Evil. When such a reaction is called for and won't be detrimental to the overall good of the team, then it's ballsy and loyal to step up and do the deed.

In this case, there is too much on the line in terms of long-term impact to Matsuzaka and the TEAM.
