I'm still willing to give him a break. He's pitched well the past few games.

Why not use Pineiro in a long-relief situation though? Curious...

That's a good point. Maybe because they are still hoping he'll develop into a late inning guy for pressure situations?

f*** it. Tavarez blows. Can any of you honestly tell me you thought they had a good chance to win this game with that f***nuts pitching? I know I didn't.

His replacement is doing the right things in the Bucket. Hansack went 5.2IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 10K, 1HR last night for the PawSox. I wonder how many outings like that he needs before JT is kicked aside.

Knowing Theo and Tito, Tavarez will get about 4 more starts.

I just don't see a pressure situation here...

Also, I'd rather keep 3 lefties in the pen and do something with Kyle Snyder (i.e, cut or send him down) than get rid of Romero/Lopez/Okajima. They're all about average, but at least R/L/O have the advantage of being left handed, if needed. It may mean they need to keep the extra pitcher but against certain teams it will be valuable.

Hasnack isn't nearly as funny as Tavarez. Perhaps Tito opts for the comic relief?

I really don't blame Tavarez for this "loss" (if it will be called that soon), just like I wouldn't have given him credit for the win--if he got one.

Drews blunder in RF and the subsequent inside the park homerun was the beginning of the end for this game.

That wasn't even close to the begining of the end of this game. Pedroia leaving the tying run at the 3rd base was the begining of the end.

Just like in ST, they cant send him down because he has no options remaining. The Sox & Tito have a strong feeling for this guy so thus far dont want to risk losing him in the waivers

Synder is better than Romero IMO.

How can you tell? It is pretty much impossible to tell at this point because they're both pretty bad.

Synder wasn't bad tonight, he faced two batters. Romero gave up 5 straight hits, Synder was good yesterday and Wed.

s***, 10 Ks? I know he's not one to get that every time out but still great to hear. With Tito's affection for Tavarez, how much longer will he remain in the rotation?

April remaing starts

Angels

Blue Jays

Blue Jays

Yankees

It certainly epitomized the type of game this is. As did the triple off the wall that coco could have been more conservative with.

This game still could have been won down by a run going into the 7th inning. This past inning was really the bad part, but the Sox started off looking like they were going to be in control until that "HR". It's a minor point and not one I'm going to get caught up in talking about.

Romero's been good in two games as well. Texas ALWAYS does damage to the Sox pitching staff if I remember correctly (which I often don't). They have a very good offensive club.

Well I was watching the pre-game and I heard before our rotation starts they: Schill has a good 45 mins where he barely talks, Beckett sits alone, Dice-K was seen eating in front of his locker alone and stretches for long periods of time, I don't know about Wake...

but then they say... Tavarez hangs out in the locker room and makes jokes and "stays loose", he says he does his own thing... Ya except pitch well... actually tonight wasn't that bad...

I just like it when he tries to pick guys off by running toward the bag. That was perhaps the funniest thing I've seen on a ball field before.

yay! One run through the heart of our order! Sweet jesus.

Does it feel like we're in the middle of the season, in the middle of a long, bad roadtrip? Man, what happened to the beginning of the season?
