Well, IP minimums is the way to go, but not at the risk of eliminating pitcher spots. I think it is certainly more egregious if a player gets no credit because there weren't enough slots to cover any missed starts or injury situations when they already had another star on the DL (only one DL slot) and don't want to dump a good pitcher.

Anyone who goes the route of the RP is rolling the dice, if you ask me. They'll lock up the SV category, but give up the W one. Their ERA will be good some of the time, but it will be s*** when they have a bad outing because of fewer IPs to carry the load. There will always be different strategies with different risks associated with them, and fantasy sports will always require a different set of values than the actual sport.

Bottom line, if you think there's a loop-hole that gives you an advantage by taking all closers, then go for it. Might work. Might blow up in your face.

agreed with what you said. lets do it then with 4 P spots but a higher IP minimum. Apologies if I'm being an ass about it, but I've been in some stupid leagues where some jerk finds a loophole and wins it (cough NYYFans) based on that. I'll look forward to taking you down ORS =P you and all your SP with my elite All CLoser team =P

Would you like me to make the minimum IP 25 innings? That seems relatively reasonable.

At the same time, I'll change one of K/9 or K/BB to K. Which one should I change?

Also, SFoC has offered to collect the dues and distribute them accordingly at the end of the season. This may be the best course of action, considering that I wouldn't be able to hold them at my house without some suspicion arousing from my parents (money coming in from places around the country isn't really something they'll just let slide). So, if it's ok with SFoC, it would make most sense and be easiest if he collected the dues.

SFoC: If you could PM your address to each member in the league to send their $20, that would be great. Thanks!

Most members should have it. But for those that don't, or lost it PM me and I'll provide it.

My vote is to take K/BB out since WHIP already penalizes for walks, and K/9 gives non-closer RPs some value.

Thanks for handling the dues, SFoC.

There are 12 people. EVERYONE MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE A NOTE THAT SAYS WHICH PERSON THE MONEY IS FROM. Your real name might be on the return address, but remember that we don't know each other's real names (well, not everyone's). For the sake of avoiding conclusion, just include a note with your TalkSox user name. SFoC, when all is said and done, there should be 12 x $20 = $240 in the envelope. Could you post the usernames of the people that have sent you the money when you receive it? Or just PM to me so I can also keep track of who has sent money and who has not.

I agree with ORS on this.

Sigh, the team name is from Clerks 2. It's ok, I'm taking it back.

Anyway, I'll send the money. Any deadline you want it by?

Just before the draft day.

I know it was from Clerks 2, but the term is like as bad as the n-word.

are we using ops instead of obp?

Will you relax. You're the only one that has been bitching constantly about nick-pick rules.

The rules are the same for everyone, if you don't like them don't play. I don't mean to sound harsh, but jeeeeez.

SFOC,

1. it was a point raised during my discussion with ORS, and I wanted to see if it was going to happen or not.

2. my only nitpicking has been to make starters more valuable.

3. my only interest is to see a fun and competitive league that's balanced all around in terms of scoring categories.

4. if you guys don't want any of the changes, i'll still play. it isn't like i'm doing this after i drafted.

I always liked using OPS as a stat. It's largely considered to the most telling factor of how good a hitter is doing, it's all encompassing. OPS pretty much takes everything into account, and favors the best hitters.

I can be fairly flexible in terms of draft times, but I'd really love for it to be in the evening any day, M-TH, the week of the 12th.

I'm gone that week on spring break. I can only do my best to accommodate as many people as possible. It won't be perfect for everyone. It seems that 11/12 people are satisfied with it as is. I'm not trying to single you out or anything, but it's tough to move it when that many people are able to make it. I mean if people would rather that following week, that's fine and I'll just pre-rank my players, but how does everyone feel about the current draft date/time?

I'm flexible as long as it's not after 8:00 on a weeknight. I commute quite a ways to work and need to be there by 6:00-6:30 in the am.

the thing we need to do is get all 12 there. This is a money league, we all should draft it. You shouldnt have to miss it and neither should I. If you move it up to that Tuesday during the day I can do it. But wednesday is a big day for me and Thursday I find out where I am doing residency. I cannot miss those days.

You aren't to clear here. "Wednesday is a big day for me", implying that the evening is available. The same could be said for Thursday. My point here is that, you are asking 11 other people to rearrange their schedules, yet you offer 1 potential solution and 2 that won't work for you. We already established that aftnoons will not work, so basically you've stated 3 times that don't work. What are we supposed to choose from ?

I have 3 days that absolutely do not work for me. March 8th I take my boards. March 14th is called Bridge day which is when we have essentially our exit interview followed immediately by a huge dinner gala. And March 15th is when we find out where we are going for residency. Those 3 days I will be unavailable for the entire day and night. Other than that, pick a day and I'll make it.
