...I meant his height. Dudes walkin around here 6'6" and up who don't play ball or are uncoordinated.

I know what you meant, it just sounded funny the way you worded it.

Brad Baker was NASTY in HS. He threw low 90s consistently with a sick curve. Asadoorian was damn good too. Who was that kid who threw away his life after being a first rounder recently. I think he was out of Peabody' date=' was it Arnold? [/quote']

Jeff Allison, Peabody High 2001

Manny Delcarmen was also class of 01 from West Roxbury High, I played against them both and Allison was a lot better, and I mean a lot. I still see him around every now and then including a few years back when instead of being in rookie league in Florida he was tossing the pigskin in the local park after getting busted about his usage of Oxycontins.

I was a Pitcher/OF/ and 1B on games after I had pitched to save my arm from outfield throws. I pitched in college when I realized I couldnt hit a D.3 curveball and still play to this day in a wood bat league.

I can throw a 2 seam, 4 seam, a 12-6 curve, and the 10-4 curve.

My 10-4 is a BEAST it breaks slow and out then goes BAM! In for the strike!

However, one time a guy got a good hit off of it for a triple. Luckily the next guy got out from a pop over right for three outs.

Anyone playing in any big tournaments this summer? My team just signed up to play in an international 5 day tourney in Austria! I'm excited about it, it should be a blast. My arms gonna be tired tho since we have like only 4 pitchers LOL.

Green Monster... there's no way you're the #1 Fan in Louisiana' date=' you'd have to get through me to get that title...[/quote']

Sorry for the late reply, but when Jeter plays SS for the Sox, that will be the day you can have that title.

The day that happens is the day I become a Dodgers fan.

third base, outfield are my favorites to play, then cause of my height i find myself at first a lot, but my favorite part of playing is throwing a man out from a long distance, and hitting the ball as hard and far as i can, i dont try at all to get any better though so im not too good

I play C and 1B in a men's slo-pitch league. Haven't played hardball in 4 years when I was 16. But to be honest I prefer the men's slo-pitch league.

LIKE HELL I'm a fairweather fan! But I'm sorry, I can't have JETER THE CHEATER coming in and ruining the Sox.

Now I really wouldn't become a Dogers fan, because I could care less about them. It was just a statement as to say how much I'd hate for the fact to have Jete as a Sox. I'd still be with the Sox 100%, I'd be happy for every HR Jeter makes to help the TEAM. But I will never respect that man ever.

Posted

Thumper, what has Jeter done to not earn your respect? Everyone in Boston hates him, but respects him a ton. What is this cheater crap you speak of?

I can't believe you would hate it if Jeter came to the Sox. You would hate it if A-Rod did too, right? Arguably the best player in baseball over the past decade?

During a game in 2004, he hits a grounder and as he's running, he gets IN the path of the ball coming up the baseline to keep him from getting out at first. It's a desperate attempt for a desperate person. Before that I actually did like and respected Jeter. But I can't stand it when people have to go and pull s*** like that. I know it's a little thing, but it still isn't right. After seeing that, I lost my respect for him.

A-Rod? I wouldn't want him for Boston either. I lost respect for him too when he went and bitch slapped the ball out of Arroyo's glove like a little girl. It's that kind of BS that made me lose my respect for them. Those two, Giambi, and Sheffield are probably the only Yankees I'd never want to see in a Red Sox uniform.

Yet I'm sure you respect Varitek a ton, right? I mean, after all, he did shove his glove in A-Rod's face while he was still wearing his catcher's mask and rendering A-Rod nearly helpless. I don't lose respect for Varitek like that, and I've never lost respect for Jeter. A-Rod's a different case but his talent is what would make me welcome here. It's all about rooting for the big BOSTON (on the road) or the big RED SOX (at home) on the FRONT OF THE JERSEY. Additionally, ANY name whatsoever is welcome as long as that name makes an immediate and positive impact in helping this team win a championship.

You've got a point there. And it is true.

But Varitek took on ARod when ARod yelled out to (who was pitching that game)?

I do admit, there wasn't a need for the fight (though it was kick ass). And I did frown on Varitek for it. But a fight is a lot different from cheating in a game.

Really poor example of cheating.

Edit: Jeter is always looking for an edge and sometimes he'll do stuff like Thumper mentioned. He's not squeaky clean. If you want to admire him for playing hard, that's fine, because he plays hard, but he's not above cheating when the opportunity presents itself.

Done, and done.

Running inside the 1B line isn't cheating. Sure, it's a against the rules, but it isn't cheating. I mean, is everyone who completely misses the 2B bag (and this is literally everyone) during a DP a cheater? No, that's part of the game. And, it is done right out in the open for the umps to call. It's not like he's trying to sneak it in, like corking a bat.

That's not the point. I'm just pointing out that he can't choose to respect one player more than another based on their uniform.

I don't think anyone's above cheating when the opportunity presents itself. I think everyone's in the mindset of doing whatever they can to gain an advantage. After all, it's only cheating if you're caught, right? :D

So I can't recall 1 person from a game THREE years ago? I'm a fan, but I don't sit down and memorize the events of the game play by play, second by second.

The fact is Jeter got caught and the umps saw it. He knew the ball was coming for him. He cheated.

As far as second base, I don't recal the last time I've seen a miss. Usually they're right in front and the side of the foot taps the corner of the bag.

That was a HUGE game in the teams recent history. HUGE. MONUMENTAL. Geez, Arroyo anyone?

It's 1 in the freaking morning and I've been at work all damn day.

I had a hunch it was Arroyo, but didn't want to say it thinking I may be wrong.

I should have been more clear. I was talking about the baserunner sliding away from the bag under the SS/2B to try and break the play up. You see that every game. Are they cheaters?

Like I said, Jeter just happened to get caught. And how often do you see a baserunner purposely blocking the ball like that?
