Not much going on now with only 13 days left until pitchers and catchers report, not even any good rumors, figured this was something worth posting with nothing else going on.

 

 

Phils Sign Brett Myers

The Phillies gave Brett Myers a three-year deal today, buying out his first year of free agency. Why do good things happen to bad people?

 

The contract covers his age 27-29 seasons, and it's a good deal for the Phillies. Our old friend PECOTA values him at $36.6MM over that same time period (of course, he wouldn't have had full leverage for 2007-08). Myers and Cole Hamels will make a very solid 1-2 punch for the next three years.

MINNEAPOLIS -- AL batting champ Joe Mauer and the Minnesota Twins agreed Sunday to a four-year contract worth $33 million, avoiding salary arbitration and ensuring one of the team's young stars will be in uniform for the long term.

I think its a good deal for 8.25 mil a year, especially considering the huge contracts that players have recieved this offseason

Thats a hell of a deal! Nice job Minny, if they can get Morneau to take a contract like that they might beable to sign Santaana.

 

I thought the M&M boys where looking at atleast 50M in a long term contract, but then again he had one really good yr so it seems to be a fair one.
