I do, but I don't like the idea of playing out of your own Market. They will sell out at Yankee stadium or Fenway too. I don't like the idea of them taking risk. There's a lot that can go wrong. Jetlag, injury, illness, etc etc. Don't mess with it. If Japanese fans really want to see some American baseball, or just Yankees-Redsox, they can watch mlb.tv or take a trip to the US. I also hate the idea of doing this in Football.

This is dumb I don't think they should open the season in Japan maybe have a different MLB team go there and play a few exhibition game a year or something but not start off the season in Japan. It's a horrible idea all together. Plus I don't want to have to see the game at like 4am.

That was the worst part about when the Yankees opened over there in 2004. As somebody who i certainly not a morning person and had their far share of absences and tardiesin High Schol, I can say for sure that if there were baseball games on at 5am everyday that would never have been a problem  .

I know this topic has beed dead for quite some time, but I've been reading up a lot about the tripn recent weeks and actually plan to head over to Tokyo for a week in March to see the games. I love when MLB & NPB come together for whatever reason. Whether t be MLB opening a season over there, or the Nichi-Bei MLB/NPB All-Star Series every 2 years, I think it's great. The marketing perks are fantastic, and it strengthens the relationship of the leagues, fan-bases, countries, etc. MLB did right this year by putting a larger gap of time between the Japan series and the regular season over here, and having the Sox play the 3 games in LA (I amparticularily looking forward to watching the one at the Coliseum). The Yanks back in '04 had less than a week to readjust after coming back from Japan, and only one exhibition game, against the Tigers, before heading north. I have to obviously agree that starting the season in Japan can have a negative effect on a team once they get back to the states, but I think it's alittle over-blown. I mean hey, the Mets opened in Tokyo in 2000 and won the pennant. The Yankees opened in 2004 and won the division. Basically, point is that the baseball season is long and grueling, and despite whatever barriers are placed before a team, the best teams find themselves in the postseason cmoes seasons end. A slow adjustment period of about 2 weeks won't make the difference in a season, so I dont think you guys who have expressed concern should worry too much about it.

...now that i've resurrected a 7 month old thread, i'm gonna go back to being extremely bored and sick on a snowy Sunday afternoon.

I will, but it's difficult. I am bored too. The only thing remotely interesting right now is whether the Dolphins win in OT... and they just did.

All of the games featuring the Red Sox, their exhibitions against the Giants and Tigers, as well as the games against the A's will be 5 a.m. EST. The A's two exhibitions with Yomiuri and Hanshin will be 10 p.m. EST. Obviously sbject to change so dont hold me to it.

f***ING DOLPHINS!!!!!!! As a Jets fan the one thing making this season anything close to worth-while to me was hopefully seeing the Dolphins go 0-16. :(
