He isnt the guy he used to be' date=' that is for sure. But he can give you 6 innings of dominance on a nightly basis. That is good enough for me, especially if our 5 spot / audition blows up in our faces.[/quote']

6 innings of dominance does not equal 15-20 mil for 3 or 4 months of work. I'd rather take that money and overpay two awesome relievers on a short term just to say how much better that will make our bullpen.

Clemens is not going to Boston. 700' date=' I will own your sig line.[/quote'] It sounds to me that if Clemens goes to Boston your heart will shatter at the pinstripes. First we kicked you in the balls with Matsuzaka, and know we might kick you in the ass with Clemens. Just promise if we sign him you don't come back saying he's overpaid, overated etc.....

the red sox offered a prorated portion of 21 mil' date=' exactly what the yankees offered and houston offered.[/quote']

Im not sure what you like to remember but Roger and his agents narrowed it down to 2 teams last year, Boston and Houston. Boston offered $21.3 million, Roger took the $22.3 million from Houston.

roger got a prorated 22.3mil. He did not get 22.3. He got about half of that, based on when he joined.

Henry says the Soxs will go after Rocket. Would make a great baseball story, the one we got robbed of last year when the Astro's owner vetoed a trade that would have sent him back to Boston that the Rocket had agreed to.

I still think it's a two team race between NYY and BOS.

It will be between NYY and BOS and NYY will win. BOS will drive the price up' date=' but Cashman will not be outbid.[/quote']

Conjecture, conjecture, conjecture.

The Yankees and Red Sox are both laying back, allowing Roger Clemens to come to them if he wants to finish his career in New York or Boston. The Yankees are committed to rebuilding their organization and won't address Roger's personal schedule until he comes to them, while Boston owner John Henry has offered an olive branch, although the Red Sox are already at budget and would have to make Clemens an ownership item.

It would be a major kick in the balls to the Yankees if Clemens returns to the Red Sox. I think JH and Theo would love to kick them in the balls' date=' or maybe I'm just projecting my own emotiuons.[/quote']

In a perfect world 700 Clemens come back home and finishes where he started. I just wonder if it would be a business decision with him, an emotional attachment to one of the teams, or something else. It is hard to put one over on the Yankees because of their seemingly endless supply of cash, but Henry showed he was willing to spend and all Red Sox fans have to admit a Clemens in our rotation would just about put us in the favorite's seat in the AL East. Where he winds up? I haven't a clue.

JH is not the tyrant that George is. George has taken a back seat for the most part, but if he has any mental faculties left, you can bet he has told Cashman to not let Clem finish his career in Boston. That means any price. JH has a limit, George does not.

george cant find his depends

he probably cant tell you his name based on what ive seen this offseason

if the yankees break the bank and sign clemens it would go against all the moves theyve made this offseason

thats speculating that the sox have no interest in him nor houston

he is what he is

he will pitch 100 innings of baseball this year,if he pitches at all

he does nothing for me

First you say George isn't running the team. Now you say he is. Which is it?

I dont know kilo. I honestly dont know. Cashman has his fingerprints all over this offseason. But from the published reports in the papers, Cashman has a determination not to be outbid on Clemens. That isnt like his thoughts. Kinda like theo, there is a limit to the worth of a player (granted, I think Cashman's thoughts of worth are a little higher than Theo's).

why

does cashman use northern quilted as opposed to charmin when wiping georges ass??

No. But with Cashman's recent philosophy of garnering minor league top prospects and not pouncing on Zito or Schmidt when he easily could have outbid, it makes me think Cashman has a limit for Clem. But with these published reports of the Yankees being determined not to be outbid, it makes me think this demand is coming from above.

I can't find my depends either, so that makes us equal in one regard.

It wouldn't go against what the Yankees have done this offseason. They have jettisoned players who don't perform in the playoffs, but brought back Andy Pettitte. The Yankees philosophy has changed...they are interested in stop gap pieces until their farm system can bear the fruit of their labor. This is why they didn't go after Zito and his seven year deal, but expect the Yankees to offer more money for less years so as not to hamstring themselves over time. Clemens fits the role perfectly, actually. I for one, hope that he comes to the Yankees. A starting four of Clemens, Wang, Pettitte and Moose is as good as it gets in the postseason. Big if, though, I admit, but a tantalizing one.

There is a rumor floating about that Clemens is sitting back and waiting to see how Houston's offense starts the season. Clemens is apparently in horrible shape because he doesnt have a WBC to prepare for. If the stros O turns solid with Lee and Berkman, then he'll go home. But from the sounds of it, he was very disappointed with the O in Houston last yr and this is one of the reasons why he is even on the market.

I dunno I think the Yankees will do whatever they can to land Clemens even if that means overpaying for the guy.
