I actually think that Jay Gibbons has fallen out of favor in Baltimore and they will have either Payton, Millar or Huff DH, and trade Gibbons for a pitcher

I wonder what they do with old friend Millar then...Millar just signed an extension on DEC 3rd with an option for '08

Aubrey Huff will see most of his time in left field, according to various reports Ive heard already. The bulk of 1st base time will go to Millar. The one that will be pissed of is Jay Payton, unless the O's pull off a trade of Corey Patterson as has been rumored

3 yrs 20M? Wow that might be one of the best bargins of the whole offseason. I absolutely hate how Baltimore does there personel moves( signing old has beens at huge contracts just because there a name) but this might be one of there better moves recently. Gibbons I think will get dealt. possibly the Pirates who are looking for a power LH bat, Gibbons isn't the biggest power hitter but hes got decent pop.

Got a prediction for you. Aubrey Huff will be just as good if not better than JD Drew for a fraction of the cost over the life of that 3 yr deal.

That's really not surprising at all coming from you, too bad the numbers don't indicate that at all.

well, depends on what your definition of better is. If it is OBP, then you may have a point. But Huff K's less, has more power and has the track record of driving in more runs, staying healthy, hitting for a higher average, and playing more than just a corner OF position. This is all assuming he returns to some semblance of his previous form, but even so, he did hit 1 more HR than Drew did last yr in 13 fewer games and in many fewer PA's.

Wellllll

Simply using 2006 stats.

Games played - Drew: 146, Huff: 131

BA - Drew: .283, Huff: .250

HR - Drew: 20, Huff: 21

RBI - Drew: 100, Huff: 66

OBP - Drew: .393, Huff: .341

SLG - Drew: .498, Huff: .478

OPS - Drew: .891, Huff: .813

OPS+ - Drew: 125, Huff: 106

RC/27 - Drew: 7.12, Huff: 5.55

So essentially, Drew, playing in more games, managed a higher statistical measure in every category except homers. By the way, Huff hit 13 of his 21 homeruns while with the Astros. How much did the ballpark play a factor?

you want to use one season, which just happened to be one of the 4 seasons drew has actually followed through on to completion and it just so happened to be a career low yr for Huff. How convenient.

Wow even though this guy isn't a MVP calibre player he is a solid pickup for the Orioles they keep showing that they are serious about winning, with all the bullpen help they have gotten and now signing Huff they are going to be a better team in 07.

Huff's best years don't touch Drew's best years. Look them up.

PS - I think the "s" word could be thrown around in regard to Aubrey Huff. Besides, if he's on the decline, why would he be the better ballplayer?

Baltimore will battle TB for the basement. There not good, they don't even have the young talent of TB, they spent a ton of money on mediocre MR pitching. There Starting roataion sucks, Roberts is decent and the rest are a bunch of the middle of the road guys. Baltiomre is showing there determined to win in 07, there doing what they always do, overpay for 2nd tier guys.

The Huff signing might be one of the best signings ever, they didn't over pay for a decent ball player.

Baltimore is one of the worst run organizations in professional sports.
