August 24th Beats ANA, team that doesnt hit well to begin with 6IP 1ER

August 29th Loses to Oak 2ER 7IP, they cannot hit either

Sept 3rd Loses to TOR 5IP 3ER 7 baserunners.

Sept 9th Loses to KC 8IP 4ER 10 baserunner

Sept 16th Beats NYY 6IP 2ER 4H 5BB to a team that had already packed it in

Sept 21st Beats MIN 8IP 0ER another team that cannot hit

Sept 27th POUNDED by TB. Dont give me the whole he was left in too long routine. He was at 92 pitches when he was pulled. 6.2IP 8ER.

it is subject to the level of competition or the other teams state of affairs. I broke down his stats vs the good hitting teams and they are bad. If he gets waited out, he gets broken down.

Yeah, but they were against teams that couldn't hit or were settling down for the playoffs. It couldn't possibly be because he pitched well

And why is it when he loses bad he gets "POUNDED" and yet when he wins it's either because it's a not too heavy hitting team or a team that's "packed it in"? A little biased I feel?

or spot on. I posted the top teams in the league as far as offense and the only ones on that list are TOR (who hit him around) and NYY who were 10 games up with 20 to go when he beat them and absolutely killed him in BOS when the season was still in doubt.

BTW, I miss baseball. I just posted 20 games and I thought to myself, 20 games of baseball from right now to the new yr would really be nice.

I'm a Knick fan so this winter will be pathetically painful for me. I'm furiously clicking the MLB sections of foxsports.com and cnnsi.com and espn.com to get any sort of baseball info.

Dont call me Bro

What do you mean his last 2 games (one was a gem, the last game was when Tito left him in too long in the 7th as he gave up 6-8 consecutive hits)

Wow.

What the hell is wrong with you?

heres something i put together on Beckett on netsports earlier this offseason:

i put together a start log of beckett from last year and sorted by good, average/bad, and awful and heres what i found.

The Good = 19 starts

7 IP, ER

7 IP, ER

7 IP, ER

7 IP, 3 ER

7 IP, ER

7 IP, 3 ER

6 IP, 0 ER

6 IP, 2 ER

8 IP, 2 ER

7.2 IP, 2 ER

7 IP, 3 ER

8 IP, 0 ER

6 IP, 3 ER

6 IP, 3 ER

6 IP, 2 ER

6 IP, 1 ER

7 IP, 2 ER

6 IP, 2 ER

8 IP, 0 ER

129.2 IP, 32 ER

ERA = 2.22

The ok/bad = 7 starts

7.1 IP, 5 ER

5 IP, 4 ER

5.1, 3 ER

6 IP, 5 ER

6 IP, 5 ER

5 IP, 3 ER

8 IP, 4 ER

42.2 IP, 29 ER

ERA (including good) = 3.22 , 26 starts

The terrible = 7 starts

3.2 IP, 8 ER

4.2 IP, 7 ER

1.1 IP, 7 ER

4.1 IP, 7 ER

6 IP, 7 ER

5.2 IP, 9 ER

6.2 IP, 8 ER

and then adding in the terrible and his ERA jumps to 5.02. So in 26 starts he was a 3.22 ERA pitcher but in 7 he was just awful. With some more consistency and less of those awful days I think next year he'll post an ERA around 3.50 hopefully.

If a player isn't capable of pitching more than 6 and a fraction, you can't blame it on the manager. The pitcher either had bad control or wasn't hitting his spots on that day.

you can say that about any pitcher. Also, your definition of bad and terrible is subjective. I go more by QS or non-QS. He had 19QS last yr out of 33 total. Not bad, but not good either. He tied for 24th in the MLB with 9 other guys.

Your tellin me Minny's/Anaheim's line-up isn't half bad? Also isn't the 16th in September a little soon to be packing it in? Considering how we chizzled your 10 game lead to 2 a few years ago, and also it's the Yankees, the most tight ass team in abseball, they're supposed to "not stop playing hard ever" or so they say.

I cut the AL in half as far as who scored the most runs. The top 7 teed off on Beckett. The bottom 7 were dominated by him.

Chien-Ming Wang:

May 22nd: @ Bos: 6 IP, 7 ER

June 1st: @ Det: 4 IP, 5 ER

July 3rd: @ Cle: 5.1IP, 5 ER

Aug 13th: @ ANA: 5.1 IP, 5 ER

See!?!!? Wang sucks too!!!! he won't amount to anything!!! He can't win!!!!!

See what you sound like?

We absolutely owned Boras on this deal. I just hope the rumors are false about Chan-Ho Park as our next closer

Where'd you hear that rumor?

Posted
You picked 4 total starts that span 4 different months. I picked what amounted to 10 starts against the top teams offensively in baseball. There is no parallel.

Its called a joke dumbass, why would I ever call Wang a bad pitcher

on Edes's blog on boston.com

In a related note, a source told the Globe's Nick Cafardo that during the Matsuzaka negotiations, Boras was trying to sell the Red Sox on signing Chan Ho Park to be the team's closer.

Boras is a crazy man

BEDFORD, Mass. -- The plane carrying Daisuke Matsuzaka, Scott Boras, and the Red Sox contingent has landed at Hanscom Air Force base.

Tom Werner, Scott Boras, Theo Epstein, Larry Lucchino, and Daisuke Matsuzaka were all seen leaving the plane and getting into trucks.

The caravan is going by police escort to Mass. General Hospital, presumably for Matsuzaka's physical, which is required before any deal is finalized.

Well' date=' considering that everyone in New England knows exactly where he is, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised.[/quote']

And New York too. ;)

Remember when Mirabelli got that escort to Fenway and changed in the back of the cop car?

I'm merely pointing out that Beckett seemingly pitched better when there was less pressure. Obviously it was different in 2003 WS' date=' but in 2006, he did not do well when the Sox needed him most.[/quote']I'll hand him the ball in a pressure situation. He has no fear.
