rumor is that gagne signed with the giants for 6 million

Gagne has been all over the map and I would not dismiss the Giants being interested. Their closer Benitez sucks to high heaven, and what better way to get back at the Dodgers than taking their former Cy Young winner. If Eric is anything like he once was before his injuries started piling up he just might be what they need. Still, I am a little skeptical right now.

Crunch, when the Dodgers deserted Brooklyn after the 1957 season I felt like I had been hit with a blowtorch and I just never felt the same about that team again. In fact, I really grew to hate them and all they stood for. Last fall I finally said that feeling was silly and stupid and said since they play in a different league than the Red Sox I could at least follow them. Man, you should have heard all the coal that came crashing down on me from those ignorant bastards on the Moose and Viny website. Well ******** on them; I rooted for the Dodgers when the best part of them was dripping. well never mind! Like you, though, I love the Red Sox first and foremost and it is isn't even close. In fact, I'm going down to Fort Myers the last week of March to see the team play three games, and will signing up on the Red Sox Destination Board for two or three trips next season. I sometimes wish I could spend the summers in Boston so I could see our team to my heart's content, but I would probably come home with my pants pockets turned out and broke as hell. I do see where you're coming from, though. Thanks for the post.:D :D :D :D

Truthfully my favorite NL team has been the Cubs. One grandfather of mine was a die-hard Sox fan, the other a die-hard Cubs fan. So thats how that all started, both got along because they were on same wave lengths about their respected team's droughts. The Cubs are long over-due... thats an understatement as they are approaching the 100 year anniversary. They have had quite the offseason, might they make a run to at least get the NL wild card?

The key to their success will be their health. If they stay healthy, they have a good shot at winning their division. Their pitching has major durability issues. Wood hasn't been able to stay healthy in the last few years, Prior is always injured, Wade Miller has had major injury problems in the last 3 season. It's nice that they now have Lilly, but at least Prior will need to stay healthy for them to seriously conted. If they can't stay off the DL, the Cubs will be in serious trouble. Their offense looks real good and should have any realy injury worries.

Well Glory Be. It is possible to like a team in another league; finally a little sanity. Thanks Riverside. The Cubs are a good choice because they are like relatives to the Red Sox. Our history is so closely related what with near misses, long droughts, heartbreaking losses, rabid fans, a fabled neighborhood ballpark---to many similarities not to be noticed. The stars seemed aligned in 2003 for those teams meeting in the World Series, but our former manager had a brain cramp and that creepo over in Chicago interfered with a ball that could have spelled finis to the Cubs' woes. At least we got a chance to taste that delicious nectar of victory the next year. The Cubs still wait. I watch them on WGN all the time and actually had to decide whether to follow them or the Dodgers. I chose the Bums because I live in California and thought it time to return to my childhood team. Hey, though, it wouldn't be a bad idea to see your Cubs and Red Sox in the WS next year. It would be a classic and all of baseball would rejoice at such a meeting.

Teddy, that is right on the money, but doesn't that also hold true for us as well? I mean, it seemed like we were doing fine this past season until the injuries to Tek and Trot hit, then the pitchers, and then the roof caved in. As I told Riverside, a Cubs-Red Sox WS would be a classic and well worth the wait, well sort of. Think about it, though. It is so much harder to go all the way now than before. Back when, all you had to do is win the WS; now you have to win a Divisional Series, the AL or NLCS, then for the third tier, the Big Cahoona. You not only need to healthy but a good dose of luck and good fortune must be smiling down at you along the way.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Gagne to the Rangers

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2695054

Oh well - we didn't neeed him and his fragile arm

Going to the Rangers!!!!! Well it this isn't a great example of taking the money and running with it I don't know what is. He goes to a hitter's park playing for a team that can't every seem to win anything and says he's pleased to be there. Next I would expect to hear him say the Rangers were always the team he wanted to play for. Sure, and I'm the next Ted Williamss. It was all money. Then again, maybe because the last four letters of his new team, gers, is exactly like his old team, maybe he can convince himself that he is still pitching for the Dodgers, another team he always wanted to play for.
