I thought Foulke rated as a B, meaning the signing team loses nothing, while the Sox net a sandwich pick.

ORS you could be right, I will see if I can find what he is.

Found it, we don't get anything:thumbdown: oh well we save money I guess:thumbsup:

So if we sign him, are we gonna count on him to be our closer? Because I'd be uncomfortable relying on a guy that's only pitched 15 innings the past 2 years

It is a risk yes. But unless youd like to pick from these other options...

40 year old Mike Timlin, Julian "A.D.D." Tavarez, should be in Pawtucket Craig Hansen, or Manny Delcarmen

No we do, him declining arb and then signing with a new team gives Boston a 1st round supplemental pick

Tick tick tick. I think I hear Gagne's arm ticking. Good sign or bad sign? Guess it depends on how long the clock will run.

I looked at the list, and Foulke is a "no compensation"guy.

Gagne if not too expensive is probably our best option, if he doesn't work out look for the to see if Hansen can handle it.

What list? There's a guy over at SoSH who worked in the Sox FO and he keeps a FA Compensation Tracking thread on the main board there. He's got Foulke as a B.

well, if we are counting on Gagne hopefully we can find another Papelbon in the wings to replace him when Gagne's arm blows out

Hansen is supposed to be that guy. He has the tools to do it, I think they just rushed him a little last year. Out of him and MDC I think Hansen has a better year this year.

If your GM could make a trade, that would be the way to go. Unfortunately, he'll be asking for something like Hoffman, Giles, and Peavy for Coco Crisp.

Linda, I try to keep an open mind about new posters since i'm notintrenched like some of these guys. But your attempts at making slick, witty remarks about the Sox FO are weak and annoying at best. I see that your trying to say Theo is a GM that asked way too much for his players. But the only negotiation your going on is the one where we tried to pry 3 top prospects from your beloved dodgers for a 1st ballot HOF. Don't be so daft as to think he would ask that much for a ordinary player.

If your going to continue to puke up weak post on this site, you might as well go back to Dodeger country, or don't be surprised when you get ripped.

I got ripped here at first but learned to post with some kind of intelligence.

And don't talk about GM's when your went out and spent 45 million on a track star, pretending to be a legit leadoff hitter/CF. I have nothing against JP, but that is the biggest joke of the off season so far.

No, you've got it all wrong. They are the ones seeking a sure fire HOF'er, so the offer should be a good RP prospect and their backup catcher. How about Hansen and Mirabelli for Hoffman? That's what Ned thinks the market is.

wow the winter meetings sure seem to make people more hostile

I hope they get this Gagne deal done. Id be willing to go to about 5-6 million

Posted
Boras wants 6 M guranteed, if he goes to the Sox expect it to be around 5M. Unless the market for Gagne picks up fast.

Dont forget $47 million for 3 years of Jason Schmidt. Yea she exaggerated a little bit about Theo's asking prices

I didnt realize that the Sox asking for Loney, Kemp, Broxton in return for 1st ballot HOF Manny Ramirez

is the equivalent of

said Peavy, Hoffman & Giles for Coco Crisp

if he wants to close, he has nowhere else to go. Boras want him in Boston and Gagne probably would like to pitch here. Now if we could just get Boras to get Matsuzaka to Boston...

In all fairness to her...Theo does have a habit of overvaluing his own players. But then again, I guess that's what you have to do if you're interested in making out in the deal.

That being said...I've gotta agree...Linda, your posts are just getting retarded. We'd love to have you here as a good contributor to the board...so turn into one, or just get out of here. No hard feelings, this just isn't the place.

You would think he would want to get a deal done, so that it would set the market ofr his other Horse Zito. Maybe a Matsuzaka deal is pretty much done except for language details in the contract, and he wants to get all his other guys signed before finalizing the Matsuzaka deal. I don't see how you could work with Boras on Drew and Gagne and not mention Matsuzaka. I would imagine they have been working on all three at the same time.
Posted
Since Matzuaka is now on a plane ride back to the United States, I bet Theo and his comrades are packing things up to fly to LA to get him signed. On WEEI they said that Theo has appointed several execs for different free agents/trade routes they are still targeting
Posted
since there really are no other options for Gagne, we should make a deal with Boras saying if we agree to a 6million$ contract for this year with Gagne, then we get Matsuzaka for 5 years :D
Posted

You never know, it might be that way. He might be like overpay for Drew and Gagne so my pockets get bigger, and I will be more wiling to work with you on Matsuzaka.

Crazier s*** has happend.
