I apologize in advance if this is a repeat thread:

J.D. Drew opted out the next three years of his contract (leaving 33 mil on the table!), thus becoming a free agent. I think picking up Drew would help the sox both offensively and defensively. Good fielder with 25-30 HR potential in the AL...i would love to see him in a sox uniform, and this would allow the sox to use Wily Mo as a fourth OF/ 1B (maybe...see how winterball/ST goes)

Ya but he's injury prone and I don't think he's worth 11 million a year and thats what he left on the table. So he will be expecting more the 11 million a year and I don't see the Sox giving it to him. He will sign with someone in great desperation for a bat after losing out on Lee or Soriano.

I agree, the amount of money he walked away from and considering Boras is his agent make this a potential problem. I'm sure Theo would like Drew in rightfield, but the money may be insane.

The money will most certainly be insane, considering he's expecting a bumpy from $11M per.

Article here, Boras preparing GMs for yet another "Andy Drufresne Special" in the excerpt below:

"In the marketplace for five-tool players and the marketplace for guys who can play center field, J.D. would certainly move to the top," said Scott Boras, the agent for Drew. "This will provide him with a situation that will give him more rights in his contract and a chance to improve his situation contractually."

Jesus! 11 mill guranteed for the next 3 seasons isn't good enough for this guy? Don't get me wrong hes a great player when healthy but I wouldn't have given him the contract the dodgers gave him. I think hes gonna regret this move and end up firing Boras when all they gey is below 10 million a year offers. Scott Boras is the anti-christ...

I was very surprised to hear he left that on the table too, but i guess part of it was that he was very unhappy in LA...nevertheless, he probably will command more than what he left
