Since today is final day for bidding, I thought I'd create a new thread. So if anyone hears anything or reads anything about where he's going to end up please post here. I've heard it's down to BOS, NYY, NYM, TEX, and CHC with BOS and the NY teams in the front running( mlb.com, "Matsuzaka's suitors face deadline.")

ESPN says an announcement is expected to come as early as Thursday.

We will probably hear the winning bidder sometime tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

The major league commissioner's office, which opened the bidding last Thursday, informed the Japanese commissioner's office of the amount of the highest bid, but not the club that made the offer. The team and the amount will be revealed only if the Lions accept the offer.

Seibu has aparently been informed of the amount of the high bid.

Two guys with supposedly reliable access to info over at NYYFans.com both heard from different sources that the Yankees won with a bid of $27M. SSDD.

Texas posted the highest bid, estimated to be around $25MM

Texas??? Kinda surprises me

i would have thought NY would have spent a little more.

Who Won The Matsuzaka Bid?

Early reports appear to indicate that the Rangers may have submitted the highest bid for Daisuke Matsuzaka.

An emailer just wrote in to tell me that 1310 Sports Radio in Dallas reported that Texas posted the highest bid, estimated to be around $25MM.

In addition, I'm hearing that Bruce Levine of ESPN 1000 reported that the Cubs did not win the bidding.

We'll see if we can get a few more sources to confirm this preliminary info.

The whole mlbtraderumors.com post.

I heard that expensivefreeagentsandpostings.com listed that the Red Sox won the bid, with a 12 million dollar deal. I'm pretty sure this guy's legit, cause he heard it on the radiovision.

This waiting game is difficult. I doubt the sox won the bidding, but it'd be nice cause I want them to pick up a pitcher and matsuzaka is the most interesting option (not necessarily best).

I have seen the rumors. There is one that the Rangers won the bid with a 25 mil bid. There is one that the yankees won the bid at 27mil. There is another that the sox won the bid at 28mil. One thing seems known for sure, and that is the Cubs didnt win....or did they?

One thing also seems for sure, nobody knows a damn thing. You're so called rumors are really nothing more than people like you and I speculating but with that unfortunate little tendency toward saying "my friend says he has a reliable source who said that..." it's all about he said she said. When they have decided there would be no reason to keep it secret anymore.

I think its a big deal. This would be one of the three best pitching options out there, leaving the Sox with only Zito or Schmidt to shoot for. Since Zito probably doesn't want to play in Boston, that leaves Schmidt as the biggest available name. He's older and has had more recent injuries.

Enormous deal? No. Big deal, definitely.

Of the three rumored winning bids we have the highest rumored bid. Does that mean we get him?

I don't know...I just heard from my buddy's friend who once dated a girl whose younger sister went to a nail salon where Matsuzaka's 3rd cousin worked that the Pittsburgh Pirates came in out of no where with a $50 million bid. Crazy stuff, never saw that coming.

I dont know a damn thing. I am only scouring other sites seeing what they are saying. This will leak, I will guarantee you that. It just depends on wich leak is credible.

I do find it hard to believe that Theo would put a 28 mil bid on the table especially after watching Damon and Pedro walk over less than one seventh of that amount.

It would just highlight the foolishness of those non-moves.
