I've watched the whole series but I feel no excitement or tension right now. it's the 8th with 2 out in a 2 run game' date=' but I just don't really care who wins as I think both teams are not the best teams in baseball. Certainly the cards aren't the best team in baseball.[/quote']They won it. They are the Champions. All of the playoff teams were very flawed. The likes of Bonser, Loaiz, Kuou and Maine were pitching in game 2 of the LDS. It just shows the state of pitching in the Major Leagues. The Cards deserve it. Injuries and arrogance did in the Mets in the post season. The Yankees who were the favorites to go all the way just flat out choked. The Cards won. They are the Champions. Everything else is sour grapes.

For sure. It doesn't seem like tremendous pitching wins championships, but pitchers who have good stuff and who use it appropriately tend to. Weaver and Wainright are not the best pitchers in the league, but they both throw hard and can be hard to hit when they throw strikes. The Tigers looked afraid after game 2.

Congrats to the Cards and their fans. They had a couple of years in my time as a baseball fan where they looked like the favorite ('85, '87), but didn't get the job done.

This is somewhat embarrassing if you ask me. All year everyone from the AL trashed the NL saying how much better the AL was and blah blah blah. The Cardinals squeeked in with 83 wins and really manhandled the Tigers. I mean I do give credit to the Cardinals but man did the Tigers lay an egg.

Congrats to the Cards. They had me fooled.

Anyway, the celebration they had was really kinda sad. Very emotionless. Rolan or whoever quoting Kevin Millar of all people with the "shocked the world" comment and then calling the team "idiots". This is probably the team with the least amount of chemistry or personality I've ever seen win a World Series.

So I went back and watched the bottom of the 9th of game 4 of the '04 WS (just to be sure ;) ), and yup, the Sox win was much cooler!

And Manny was a complete ass in his WS MVP interview. I could swear he said "We want Alex!" before saying something else about how good he was and how he always knew he'd be the WS MVP. ugh.

Also, I just don't get the Foulke problems the last two years. Watching him pitch, he was throwing 90/88 mph fastballs then 77/78 mph change ups. He was what? 87 or 88 tops this year with the fastball? How can 2 miles an hour make you lose your mojo like Foulke has??? I mean, guys can light up a 96 mph fastball from Beckett then a 90mph changeup and we all say there's not enough difference in the speed of the pitches to fool the hitter. Foulke can't adjust and drop the speed of his breaking stuff to say, 75, to compensate? He'd still be fooling the hitters because he was never a power pitcher. I don't get it.

The talent gap is closing . The AL stars are getting past their prime and the NL has more budding stars, e.g. Howard, Miguel Cabrera, and Pujols is only 26. The better offensive production in the Al is more a function of the DH than anything else.

2002 was a very solid 7 game series. last year was a terrible world series.

The only reason I said 2002 was because I couldn't even remember who was in it for a minute

Last year wasn't that terrible considering:

The White Sox were getting their first WS win in like 88 years...

OR

The Houston Astros were getting their first WS ever.

I'm sure most other fans thought '04 sucked ass as well.

last yr

I don't think so. Despite the sweep, last year featured some compelling pitching matchups, a walkoff in game 1, and a 14-inning affair that, while painful to watch Houston's ineptitude, was a good game.

This year's series sucked.

joe jackson got a lifetime ban for cheating despite hitting .406 based on what ive seen for stats in the 1919 world series.

have the feds decided to take up an investigation here based on the cards winning the world series with arguably the worst team to do so in my lifetime??

theres a few guys in detroit that should be banned from baseball just for embarassing themselves, their city(if thats possible) and the american league in general.

5 errors from the pitching staff??

a 250 foot fly ball goes over the left fielders head with 2 out in the 8th?

granderson simply falls down??

my god

detroit was pitiful and it was rather painfull to watch a team that lit up ny and oakland lay down like a 5.00 bronx whore the nite before rents due..
