is OC a FA?

Cabrera signed a four year contract with the Angels right after we stupidly decided we didn't want him back. He has two more years on his contract, which would be perfect for us because I believe that Jed Lowrie will be ready by 2009 to play shortstop for us for a long time. The only one I don't like in that lineup, though, is Pena. I just don't think he is that good an outfielder, in fact I think he is pretty brutal out there, and he strikes out way too much and does not hit in the clutch. :D :D :D :D

Mark Loretta should be at 2nd base next season. No one is going to change my mind on that. So I will sit and wait and see what happens.

You realize that the older players get, they tend to get worse, right?

really ? so explain to me why alot of players stats gets better with age ?

Other than Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds, show me that. When players are past their prime (27-31), they decline. Pedro Martinez is going through that. Mark Loretta is going through that.

Some players do get better. But it's not A LOT. The majority of players decline.

31? so ortiz's numbers and manny's numbers are gonna drop down next year?

i find players are still good until they hit 38,39 , dont get me wrong they might drop a little from previous years but not that much

You listed three of the best players in the game. You think they're in the same boat as Mark Loretta?

Rivera posted his lowest strikeout numbers in his career. He also had to adjust as the season progressed, because he could no longer dominate hitters with his cutter.

Ramirez was in a gradual decline for the last three years, but he bounced back pretty good. Though, he isn't the same player he was with the Guardians and early Red Sox.

Ortiz, hasn't been an every day player in the major leagues until the last two years. In a couple of years, you'll start to see a gradual decline. Look at Loretta, he's been in a gradual decline for the last two years.

A study was done that took the AB's from every player from 1980-2003. The minimum number of AB's accepted was 300.

(Remember, these are the AVERAGE players, like Mark Loretta)

Hey! Look how Manny's RBI's increase as soon as the Red Sox lineup becomes the most feared in baseball.

(HR's and RBI's are not the end all on how to judge a baseball player.)

stats are nice .but stats dont always tell the true story about a player .thats why baseball teams have scouts that use there two eyes.

Ya and I can use my two eyes as well as say that Loretta have very little range and very little bat anymore. When your OBP is under .350 and you are a #2 hitter something is wrong. And with Loretta is called getting old fast.

Loretta be gone please.

We have a very good prospect in Pedroia with a very good glove. Not to mention hes young. A lot younger than DFA. I sure am pointing out the obvious, and if we had a lesser guy, or no guy to fill in the 2nd base spot I might consider signing him. But Pedroia is a very very good prospect.

well on what i saw at the end of the season i wouldnt take my chance on him yet , id use him as a role player for another year ,make him earn it before just putting him there

OK, I saw a line drive hitter who is no longer hitting XBH's. I saw a 2B who had little range and almost no speed.

Then, the stats backed up those findings. If he was so great, then it would show up in the statistics.

Tell me how you can refute:

No power

No range

No speed

What did you see? I saw some fantastic plays in the field. Fielding never rests. Hitting is a variable. His hitting will come. He's going to be 24 next year. Can't baby the spects any longer.

what did i see ? yeah i saw good fielding i also saw poor fielding as well , batting was awfull, i know its only 90AB but still id like to see a little better than that before throwing somebody in there

You believe a guy with a track record to hit .310 in the minors, is suddenly going to hit below the Mendoza line?

Jsing, you can have your opinion and I will respect it unless you try and tell me you would rather have Alex Gonzales in your lineup over Mark Loretta. Then you lose all credibility with me on that topic. Just don't tell me that you would pick Alex over Mark.:o :o :o

I think everyone would agree that Loretta is superior to Gonzalez with the bat. I don't agree that Pedoria should play SS. His glove isn't adequete at short.

And if you would take Gonzales over Loretta you are out of your mind. You are not out of your mind' date=' are you Crespo?:dunno: :dunno: :dunno:[/quote']

I'd rather have Pedoria at 2B, and Cabrera at SS.

I thought Mark was a very good #2 hitter it may not show up in all the stats but he was clutch in a lot of situations , I would bring him back for another year.:)

How are you going to see better than that if you don't bring him up?
