Uh, but we didn't choke. We got beaten by a team with much better starting pitching. The problem with this team was that it was only good for the regular season, not the playoffs.

You got shutout for 7 2/3 by Kenny Rogers and sent something like 26 or 27 batters in a row to the plate without even a walk from the end of game 3 to the 6th inning in game 4. ARod got 1 hit in the series and made an error. Sheffield got 1 hit. Giam"Balco" got one hit. You slapped these guys around during the regular season. In short you gagged and choked. You can deny it all you want, but doesn't change the fact that the greatest offense ever choked.

After game one, many yankee fans and the national media were already penciling the yankees in as national champs. The momentum was completely in your favor and the yankees collapsed and went on to lose three in a row. That, my friend, is considered choking.

Isn't that the definition of a choke?

As many of you probably remember after we lost to the Angels last year, I went into "Steinbrenner mode" for about a week. Tonight officially marks the beginning of "Steinbrenner mode" for me. However, there's a different feeling this time. Last year, and years prior, I was angry and mad. Thats not the case this year. I'm upset, sad, disappointed, and disgusted. I shed tears in the 8th inning; not after the game, but in the 8th f***ing inning.

I just want to share my thoughts on the series and the Detroit Tigers here in this thread, then I will move over to the Yankee Thread for the week-long conclusion of my fury.

The Detroit Tigers are amazing. Their fans are amazing. Jim Leyland is one of the most respectful men in Baseball, and he instills that in his players and staff. I wasn't a huge Leyland fan before this series, btu after seeing his first postseason press conference that quickly changed, and I truly admire him. Watching this series, and this game in particular I saw a familiar sight. I saw the energy and excitement in the Tigers that I saw in the Yankees for so many years. Those Tiger fans tonight were amazing. Those without tickets were on top of buildings, on top of busses, inside parking garages, and anywhere else they could get a view of the field. Those with tickets were AMAZING in there. They fueled the engine of the Detroit Tigers. I couldnt help but keep watching FOX after the game (rather than turn to the YES postgame) to see them celebrate. The passion was outstanding. As upset as I was because we lost, I was equally as happy for the Tigers and their fans. After what they showed me these past 3 days, and particularily tonight, i'm extremely envious. I know I always do a lot of supporting for the Yankee fans, but right now, the fans of the Detroit Tigers are the greatest fans in baseball. They have something that Yankee fans lack, and thats passion. We take so much for granted, and I didnt realize it until I saw the Tiger players out on the field spraying the fans with champagne, and slapping high fives, grabbing signs from the crowd and parading them around the field. It was an extraordinary sight.

For me, it's impossible not to root for the Tigers in the ALCS, and maybe even the World Series (if the Mets dont make it). But for now, I have to, as a baseball fan, sit back and enjoy great baseball for the next two weeks. The ALCS is going to be an AMAZING series, and i'm sure that the NLCS will be the same, as will the World Series. For now, i'm pulling for the Mets and the Tigers.

My disgust for the Yankees has never been this high, and for the first time in my life i'm ALMOST ashamed to be a Yankee fan. Some things need to change between tonight and the date in February that pitchers and catchers will report to Tampa.

...and as for you Red Sox fans who quickly jumped into this thread to taunt us and rub it in and say that we choked....f*** You!! As far as i'm concerned, you guys have no right to throw the "C word" at us after blowing your division lead and being forced to clean out the Fenway clubhouse a week earlier than us. So to you Sox fans who had the nerve to come here and taunt us, i'll say it again; f*** You and your Triple A baseball team. It's a shame I had to say this, because there are some truly respectful Sox fans here who I wouldn't want to offend, but had no choice because of you few *******s.

Wait 'til next year.

I didn't gloat about your loss, or throw any taunts afterward, so I know your comment wasn't for me, but I can't let this pass.

You are an idiot. f*** them? No, f*** you for being so stupid as to think that you will come to a Sox board and not get taunted. Where do you come off thinking that you should be free from ball busting as a Yankee fan on a Sox board? What an amazing sense of entitlement you have.

The choice is simple, either accept it as what will happen here as most of the other rational Yankee fans have (and as I have when I go to Yankee boards), or go the f*** away. If you are upset, you have no one to blame but yourself. You are like one of those liberals that listens to Rush Limbaugh all day and gets pissed to no end, and then has the gaul to blame how upset they are on conservatives. Here's a shocker, when you go someplace where you know you aren't welcome and no one likes your team, then you are going to read some stuff that will piss you off. If you can't deal with it, then you should avoid it.

EDIT: And another thing. You had no choice? Baloney. What you lack is self-control.

Dont mind me, might be getting a little buzzed here but... did a Yankee fan just have the gaul to say??...

So to you Sox fans who had the nerve to come here  and taunt us, i'll say it again; f*** You and your Triple A baseball team.

Now thats the funniest damn thing Ive heard all day, a Yankee fan is pissed off & shocked that Sox fans are celebrating on a forum called TalkSox because their biggest rival (the uh Yankees) getting knocked out of the playoffs. Oh but its alright for some of them to taunt us because of the Sox's sharp decline in the 2nd half after being ranked as one of teh best teams in baseball.

Yes we have a triple A baseball team as well. Only in the 2nd half when we had make shift lineups & pitching staff

Are you saying we cant root against the Yankees?

Again I ask, how come its alright in Yankees poster's eyes to gloat about the Sox not making the playoffs/3rd place?? Its a rivalry, not a one-way street

The Detroit Tigers are amazing.
Yes' date=' they got swept by KC on the last weekend of the season to lose the Division, but they are amazing. Maybe your team just choked. The usual suspects were responsible. 1 hit from ARod and 1 hit from Sheffield.

They reminded me of Red Sox fans in 2004.
My disgust for the Yankees has never been this high' date=' and for the first time in my life i'm ALMOST ashamed to be a Yankee fan.[/quote'] Our disgust for the Yankees is always at that level, and yes you should be ashamed.

As far as i'm concerned' date=' you guys have no right to throw the "C word" at us after blowing your division lead and being forced to clean out the Fenway clubhouse a week earlier than us.[/quote'] It's a little difficult to accuse a team of choking that finished in third place 11 games out of first place that was playing AA and AAA players and rejects like Jason Johnson and Kyle Snyder from July until the end. We sucked and we sucked badly, but you guys choked. You had the best record in the AL with home field advantage throughout the post season and you were the Vegas favorites to win it all when the playoffs started and you got embarrassed by Kenny Rogers (a choker in his own right) and a team that choked away the division by getting swept by KC (without its best player) on the last weekend of the year. The Yankees choked again, and they are making it some sort of a specialty.
Wait 'til next year.
Have a nice offseason, loser! BTW we don't have any star FA's that your bottomless pit of $ can poach this year.

Since when did this become a yankees site...?

That's what I thought.

lol, well with how much many people here that aren't Yankee fans seem to care about the Yankees, I'd say its always been one.

I keep finding it funny how some of you are schocked that Sox fans were rooting for the Yankees to lose.

Ive been this way since I can remember. Its a f***ing rivalry, rooting for the other team to lose is just a fun part of it. Next thing you're gonna tell me is that Yankee fans didnt: root against the Sox when the played Chicago, and come to here (a Sox board) to taunt us about it?
