hahaha some kids at my school were like YAHHHHH PUNTO IS WINNING THE GOLD GLOVE! LOOK AT ALL THE DP'S and web gems and i was trying to explain that GOnzo has waaay more dp's and highlight real plays but they were like YAHHHH PUNTO! Youklis is not such a big upgrade over Millar. I'd like the Sox to pick up a stud lefty first baseman with some pop, and use Youk in more of a platoon role with some time a 3B and an occasional game in LF at Fenway.

Well that's true. I never thought that was a realistic possibility. If the Padres wanted to get fleeced, I would have had no problem with that.

The 1st baseman free agent market this offseason isnt that much appealing if youd consider the Sox to go hard for Sean Casey this season (best available this offseason). Damn the Cubs for resigning Derrek Lee earlier this year, he's one of Theo's favorite players

could a trade be out of the question ? Perhaps IF Girardi signs w/ the Cubs even though he says he isnt or whatever they may also pull an 06 Marlins by fire saleing most of their players

I don't have anyone specific in mind and there isn't much point to throwing out a couple of names, because I don't know if they would be available. I think they should explore opportunities get a power hitting 1B.

Redsox.com is reporting that Youkilis will miss the final 2 games of the season with an abdominal strain. Ok so now its just Youkilis & Varitek missing from the lineup, right? Wrong. Ortiz will be given a rare night off tomorrow night.

 

A night off for what? Isnt this supposed to be a thank you wknd to the fans for supporting them? Wait till they see this expected lineup tomorrow night as theyre filing into their seats.
