I didn't see one, so before the season starts, post your top 10 or something. I'm sure a lot of you are BC fans, and as a Hokie fan, I think we could be upset by you guys this year, in Boston.

A segment of my college football preview:

Top 25

Projected Final Standings

25. UTEP- This mid major should once again crack the Top 25 with a nice season.

24. Nebraska- This program is ascending once again. The QB spot is so-so, but the defense is coming on with the Black Shirt mentality. They have talent at running back, and if one of their young backs gets it rolling, watch out.

23. Oklahoma- Rhett Bomar just wrecked their season. Adrian Peterson will likely have a great year, but if they ever need to throw the ball, the Sooners will be out of luck.

22. Georgia- Here is where the Bulldogs will land after a down season.

21. Pitt- A nice reward for this young team.

20. Michigan- Lloyd Carr will really be feeling the heat after this 3 loss season, maybe even the fire.

19. Tennesee- Phil Fulmer has to make this team rebound this year, or else he and all of his staff will be on the chopping block. A new offensive coordinator will have to bring the talent back out of QB Erik Ainge.

18. South Carolina- They have young, somewhat experienced talent at the skill positions in a trio of sophomores headlined by WR Sidney Rice. The Quarterback is Blake Mitchell for now, but the more talented Cade Thompson will likely take that spot.

17. Louisville- Brian Brohm is back, Michael Bush is returning. Their offense is loaded, and I think they will beat West Virginia. Actually, they have a shot at Miami. But a good defense, like South Florida could spoil their season.

16. Miami- Kyle Wright is going to get his hat handed to him by any good defense they come across.

15. Florida State- They will hand Kyle Wright his hat, proceed to go undefeated until they lose two in a row to Florida and then the ACC Championship game.

14. Iowa- Actually the third best team in the Big 10 this season. That conference isn’t loaded or anything.

13. Texas- They will beat Oklahoma, but lose to Texas Tech and Ohio State.

12. LSU- The schedule really isn’t nice to LSU. They play Auburn, Florida and Tennessee on the road. I think they are bound to lose at least one of those, I say they lose two.

11. Notre Dame- I think they just miss out on a BCS bid in a year where they are supposed to win it all. Maybe if they didn’t schedule as if they were an All-Star team on an American tour they could fulfill expectations.

BCS Bowls

Rose Bowl

#5 California over #9 Texas Tech

The Texas Tech passing game will be sniffed out by a very intelligent defense of Cal, headlined by experienced corners Tim Mixon and Daymeion Hughes.

Fiesta Bowl

#6 West Virginia over #10 TCU

In what some might call the small market bowl, the spread gets the better of the Horned Frogs, who lose their undefeated record, but show that a mid-major can make the BCS.

Orange Bowl

#3 Ohio State over #6 Virginia Tech

Here we go. I see this playing out somewhat like the Sugar Bowl against Auburn. Ohio State will definitely be able to hold our offense back. The game will be determined on how well we contain their offensive skill players. I think we will almost have to completely shut them out, so I don’t think we pull it out against the third best team in the nation.

Sugar Bowl

#4 Florida over #7 USC

I think Chris Leak gets the better of John David Booty in this matchup. The Gator defensive line ought to be one of the best around, and that will cause problems for USC’s offense, especially with a solid secondary to back it up.

BCS National Championship Game

Glendale, Arizona

January 8th, 2007

#1 Penn State over #2 Auburn

The Nittany Lions will come in the underdog and leave with another national title for Joe Pa. Paul Posluszny, Dan Connor and Tim Shaw, the Penn State linebackers, will contain Kenny Irons and Brandon Cox. Penn State QB Anthony Morelli and his stellar wide receiving unit will manipulate one of Auburn’s only weaknesses, the lack of depth at the cornerback position. After not being exposed by a receiving short SEC schedule, Auburn will not be able to cover Penn State’s multiple wide receivers. Derrick Williams is big and fast. He will likely be contained by Auburn’s one good corner, David Irons. However, Deon Butler and Jordan Norwood will run free for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State 31 Auburn 20

If anyone actually wants to read the entire 7 page preview, let me know. By the way, the Tech pick isn't a homer, its just because nobody knows that our QB doesnt have to be great for us to win.

Geez, a hokie fan:rolleyes: I live in the middle of "hokie nation" and it's really annoying. Every saturday all you see is those stupid flags on everyone's car---that is until they lose a game, and then the flags are put away till the next year. Hokie fans down here a real fairweather. I am not saying that about you, it's just something all my friends comment on when they come to visit during football season:D

Anyway I am a Nebraska fan, so we will see if they can do anything this year

where in Virginia are you, I'm from about 2 hours from Blacksburg, now live in Richmond, but I havent missed a home Saturday game since like 1995, been at every important game in the program's recent history. I do understand that there are lots of fair weather fans though, and I hate them too. Ever since 99, the diehards have taken hits because of an increased number of bandwagoners paying to get better parking and seats, it really sucks. There is a 40 year old guy that now sits in front of me that apparently has watched Tech football for approximately 2 seasons, as he once told his wife after a blocked kick that it was "very rare for a college team to block kicks, and this is only like the 2nd time I've seen Tech do it." It probly annoys me more than anything, but yes, Go Hokies!

By the way, there is supposedly a deal in the works for Tech and Nebraska to play each other in a home an home, maybe starting next year.

here in boston we have no college fan base

ive been a bc seaon tix holder for years

i got an email earlier in august indicating good seats were still available for the va tech game??

unreal

they claim its because of the prosports scene that college athletics dont take off here but with a great hoop program and a perrenial top 25 football team i still think they should sell better than they do.

the stadium here in boston sucks

seating isnt bad but its impossible to get to and theres no parking whatsoever

bc should be decent again

seems we're always 1 win away from the bcs, losing to syracuse when the fiesta bowl was on the line was brutal, last year we got beat in clemson, another winnable game

should be another great ride

thank god its early with the sox tanking liek they have

Even the hockey program that BC has is amazing. My cousins play on the team and I almost went to Wisconsin last year to go to the game. They can spare tickets to me so I can get in for free. It's great :D

I am surprised also that there isn't more support for BC. I mean, I suppose I see more BU or Harvard fans than BC fans but you obviously can't root for 2 or all 3. Alumni Stadium is a 5 minute walk from my house, so when the games are played, I can hear the crowd if I step outside my house.

I beg to differ that the stadium sucks, but that's probably because I got to play a game for my high school team there last year, and it was quite the thrill.

Don't like the playcalling from inside the 3 from Central Michigan. Also don't like the decision to kick the FG. We could have a game here!

Not that I care much at all, but Vanderbilt plays Michigan at Michigan Saturday morning on ESPN. We're going to get slaughtered, everyone should watch!

if you are saying I'm from PA, I'm not, maybe you noticed I have said I am from Virginia and a diehard VT fan, I just think people are underestimating Penn State.

Oh ok my bad.

I like PSU as well this year, but they're not playing for a National Championship.

Another Hokie fan? Go nutless turkeys! The Hampton/Norfolk/Tidewater area is the most underrated pool of football talent, and Beamer owns it. They just reload with skill position talent. They'll be good on both sides of the ball, they'll get after it on ST, and they'll be fast, but they won't make a BCS game this year. The U in Miami? That's going to be an interesting game, but I don't like their chances down there. At BC? Could go either way. And, I think GTech opens some eyes this year, including a win in Blacksburg.

This is an interesting year for NCAA FB. I really don't see anyone playing the regular season clean, and I think it's very possible to have 6-7 1-loss teams with a legit claim to the title game. The BCS rant will be strong this year, I think. I can only hope it's strong enough to institute change.

Oh, cool, Memorial Stadium is the third largest "city" in NE on game days. They will even show up in droves for the spring scrimmage - WE'RE PLAYING OURSELVES!

I think it's not unfair to expect Nebraska to win the miserable Big 12 North. y/n?

the Miami/Tech series favors the team that lost the previous year and the away team, I think we win, if Kyle Wright has to make a play for them to win, Tech will win. GT was supposed to beat us last year in Blacksburg, College Gameday was there and everything but we clobbered them. 52-7, I don't think they will beat us, especially at home. BC I'm worried about because Tech always loses that game we aren't supposed to, and they always play us close up there. It will definitely be an interesting season, and I think a lot of top ranked teams are very overrated, like Notre Dame and Texas. Hokie Hi. By they way, do you go to many games? I dunno where you live, have you ever been to a game?

Not sure if anybody here hates Colorado University as much as I do, but the Dan Hawkins era at CU kicked off with a bang with a 19-10 loss to Montana State -- a division 1-AA school.

I must say, Tennessee is looking quite impressive with a 35-0 lead over #9 California.

So much for their Pac-10 title this year? They don't look like a scary team at all. Either that, or Tennessee was vastly underrated.

Doesn't Tennessee just look so much faster than California? I think it's a mixture of Tennessee being underrated and Cal being overrated, to be honest.

Well, someone from Tennessee (I forget exactly who) had no problem saying that they were going to hoist that trophy this year. Watching this game, I can start to understand why...

I'm pumped for FSU/Miami. Go 'Noles!

I'm a Notre Dame fan, so you can guess what I'm looking forward to. Hopefully they don't call me into work on Monday -- few games are consistently as exciting and intense as Miami/Florida State. Considering both teams usually have atleast an outside shot at being Champions, it's awesome seeing someone's dreams shattered so early in that game.

At 8:00 I'm watching ND. Go Irish !

Yeah, I'm normally a BC Eagles fan, but I gotta root for FSU as well because my girlfriend goes there. I know it's pretty weird, but I root for BC when they play each other so we can fight about it. It's fun. I don't take the whole rivalry thing into huge consideration because they're not big rivals. I know they're both in the ACC but I don't really care, hah.

Waaait a minute. Notre Dame had a false start on the initial punt attempt and GT drilled the Notre Dame punter... why don't they call that?

Louisville RB, and potential Heisman candidate Michael Bush broke his leg this evening in the third quarter against Kentucky, ending his college career. Huge blow to Lousiville's chances to win the Big East.

The Irish completely disapointing everyone and finishing the season with 2 losses? :D

Huge win for FSU on the road in Miami, having a huge second half. Go 'Noles!

Sarasota natives, Sam Shields and Baraka Atkins make two crucial mistakes. Thank god. We're spared a week of bukkation on those two by the Trib.
