New pitcher tonight

Right-hander Mike Burns, who was acquired in a minor league deal Monday with the Cincinnati Reds for Tim Bausher, is on his way to Oakland and should be in uniform for the Sox tonight.

Burns, who arrived in Pawtucket from Louisville late last night, received a phone call from the Sox to get on a plane this morning. The Red sox will have to make a corresponding roster move.

Burns was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville by the Reds last Friday. He had an 8.78 ERA with the Reds in 11 aqppearances and 6-1 with a 1.75 ERA in 38 relief appearances and two starts for Louisville.
