We'll see. Call Dan Marino and ask him how much he could get done without a team. And Brady doesn't have half the talent Marino does.

He probably has more. Marino never had as a good of a running game as the one the Pats will be sporting this year and does he have 2 very good TE's like brady has to throw to. I don't think so.

More talent than Dan Marino? That's asinine.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Larry Izzo has three Super Bowl rings, but since that all that judges talent, he's more talented then Derrick Brooks who's won only one.

When Brady comes knocking at the door at 420 TD's, or 61,500 passing yards, I'll say he's more talented.

The game is about winning, not just stats.

The numbers don't even matter to me. All you have to do is watch them play. When Brady can do anything with his arm that Marino did i'll say he's more talented.

Those are numbers ... you say in a later post that numbers don't matter.

BTW Trent Dilfer has a ring.

Big woop.

What I said was the "stats" he quoted don't mean s*** compared to championships. Get it straight.

OK then by your logic Trent Dilfer is better than Marino ...

I'll take that bet.

Let's see QB's- If Culpepper plays like he can, Dolphins.

Receiving Corp- Like I said if Branch leaves, Dolphins by a lot.

Running game- While the Pats have a deeper group, the dolphins have the better feature back.

Defense- Dolphins D is emerging but probably won't be as good as the Pats.'

SI has the dolphins going to the SB, just so you don't think I'm the only one thinking the dolphins will be good.

Nice try to stretch your point to absurdity.

It's your point not mine. You said championships are more important than stats. Which would mean Trent Dilfer is better than Marino because he has 1 championship and Marino has none.

Yeah he's hilarious. His thoughts come from actually looking at the teams, whereas yours comes from a blind love of the Pats.

First let's see if Culpepper is anything without Moss.

Yes you are right Culpepper is garbage, and was only able to be one of the best QBs in the league because of 1 WR.

Did you know Moss was responsible for all those runs Culpepper made, and all the passes he completed to the other WRs. What a bum.

I'm not saying he's garbage. I'm saying that we should wait to see if he can be the same QB when he's in an unfamiliar environment with new faces. Who knows if Chambers/Culpepper will be anything close to what Moss/Culpepper was.

By the way, we're not just talking about "1 wide receiver" here. We're talking about Randy Moss. That man can catch anything in quadruple coverage.

Kerry Collins sucks, and he did jack s*** with Moss last year. We saw what happened when the connection between Culpepper and Moss was disrupted with Moss's performance in Oakland. Who knows if Culpepper will still be effective?

And yes, I'm definitely saying that Culpepper could have looked like one of the best QBs in the league because of Moss.

Oh come on. Michael Vick completes passes to "other" wide receivers and runs a lot as well. That doesn't make him anything close to the best QB in the league.

We have to wait to see how Culpepper will do, but we should assume Brady will be great? OK.

Chambers/Culpepper doesn't have to be what Moss/Culpepper was, because the Dolphins actually have a defense, and a running game.

No he can't, and never did. Moss makes the majority of his catches down the sidelines. He's very flashy and he can make huge plays, but he's no greater than the elite WRs in the league.

Man are you gonna feel silly when the Dante led Dolphins keep the Pats out of the playoffs.

Vick throws the ugliest ball in the NFL. He can't even throw a spiral. HUGE difference.

And actually Vick throws the vast majority, if not all, his passes to Crumpler, because he's the only target he can't miss.

Point taken on the last point, which was a good one. I forgot how much of a flop Peerless Price was in Atlanta.

And yes, you should assume Brady will be great. Nevermind, you don't have to assume. He IS great. I can't count the number of times (okay, obvious exaggeration ... don't bust my balls) he's led game winning drives in big situations (see: Superbowl XXXVI, the one at the top of my head - that idiot Madden was talking about kneeling it to go to overtime). He had 3 superbowl rings in a stretch of 4 years (5 now obviously). The way he handles the pressure and leads this team to victory is invaluable.

Here's something to chew on for every one who says that Dante Culpepper's success is largely based on Randy Moss. The best year of Dante Culpeppers career, and arguably one of the best in NFL history, was a year that Randy Moss only had 49 catches. Culpepper, that year, completed 330 passes to WR's not named Randy Moss that year.

Miami has a better passing game (especially if the Patriots don't have Branch), running game, and at the very worst, their defense is equal to New Englands. This team won their last 6 games last year with Gus Frerotte. You're nuts if you think this team doesn't pose a very serious threat in the AFC East.

And Peerless Price in Atlanta was a mistake from day one. He's a great number two WR -- but he's not a number one guy.

Posted

Hm, interesting point See Red. I didn't know that first fact that you stated.

However, I am still not ready to say that Culpepper will be a difference maker. I know he's a great quarterback, I never said he was "garbage," but I'd like to see how he performs in his first few games before passing judgment.

I may be one of the only Pats fans on here that's a bit more concerned than the others. You all say that Culpepper is the reason for the Pats to be worried. I say Ronnie Brown is the bigger reason.

I'm saying that Brady may not end up looking all the great with his dwindling team. I'm not trying to take anything away from the guy ... eventhough I hate him.

How has Brady looked so far this year. The Pats have more offensive talent than your Steelers and its not even close especially when Branch comes back.

Posted
Ok, the Miami receivers are nothing that special, while they are better than the Pats, but the Miami passing game is not what will make that team. It is all about Ronnie Brown. I think Tom Brady can keep our offense at the same level as the Super Bowl years, especially if Maroney keeps looking as good as he has. Troy Brown is not dead yet, and Reche Caldwell is not a slouch. I think we should be more worried about the secondary, and whether or not it can stop some teams like the Bengals and Colts, because the corner back position is extremely weak.

if the pats dont find a wideout they wont be able to stretch the field

if they dont stretch the field the safetys will be on the line of scrimmage without fear of getting burnt

nobody can run in the nfl against 8 in the box

this isnt high school or college

im not familiar with the cap # or what #1 wideouts are getting paid these days

i do know we have money to spend

i do know that branch is one of the top 15 wideouts in football

what i dont know is who brady is throwing to come next sunday outside his tightends and kevin faulk

hey

maybe they line up watson outside

he can fly for a big man and i wouldnt want to be a safety taking him on full speed
