Coco, I just wanted to know why I should be a Sox or Yankee fan?

Here is the thing, if this is actually an honest person and not the mets a-hole from the other day:

Yankee fans love to win, period.

Red Sox fans love the Red Sox, win or lose.

Pick a group, arrogant braggers or loyal sports fans.

Oh please, I must of forgotten that Sox fans obviouly hate to win, since it seems loving to win is a bad thing. We love to win, period? Is that a joke!? No, We love to win now and then, but other than that, losings fun. Do you turn on a Red Sox game and say to yourself 'A Loss today would be AWSOME, if were lucky'?

I must have forgotten all the Sox fans saying who sucks, and what mistakes were made after the last series, becuase, well, thats the lose half, and obviosly the Love ended at Ortiz.

That is a dumbass argument.

Red Sox fans are made up of people like Ben Affleck

I know Yankee fans who survived cancer.

Pick a group, rich Hollywood snobs, or brave, selfless cancer survivors.

Pick a team based upon who you like, don't ask for other people's advice.

I'm not saying this guy should ask for our advice, because I think he is obviously not a good sports fan to ask us this, but are you saying that all Red Sox fans are doing it for the publicity? And what the hell does surviving cancer have anything to do with being a Yankees fan? I'm sure there are some Sox fans that have survived cancer. I'm happy for all of them, but 1. surviving cancer has a lot to do with yourself, and 2. being brave does not have anything to do with being a sports fan.

ok, let me state it that many Yankee fans, not all, would disappear if the team suddenly was not winning the AL East every year, a much greater percentage of Yankee fans would go away with losing than Red Sox fans.

Well scientifically speaking, a Yankee fan base comprised of approximately 10 people:1 mile in New York, multiplied by 26 championships, divided by the current winning percentage leaves the bandwagon number at a moderate 5.9, whereas the Red Sox fan base had a number approaching 8.2 before 2004, 14.8 post-2004, and currently sits at 9.9. Percentage wise, should the Yankees lose the AL East one year, the dropoff would = precisely dick%.

Who cares about the bandwagon fans? LOL YANKEE FANS DUMB! LOL RED SUX!

They aren't real baseball fans, and it is stupid to characterize real fans in that light.

I'm not trying to support P58's cause, but that's not entirely accurate. A fanbase is everyone who roots for the team -- die hards, bandwagoners, nimrods, fanboys, everyone. You can't just throw out a portion and say they don't count.

Personally, I think every fanbase is identical in terms of composition. They all have equal proportions of every type of undesirable fan, and those undesirables are what create sentiments of one fanbase being superior to another.

Absoultely agree.

I tend to throw out the undesirables in arguments like this, because for the most part on this site we're pretty educated.

I am a big baseball fan and I like a lot of teams. I like the Ny Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, how do I choose between them?

Root for whichever team you grew up watching. Like someone said above, it's very hard to be a legit Red Sox/Yankees fan unless you were born into it.
