This has to be the lowest point in years for the Sox. Although they are not as bad as they have looked for the last week, I don't see them going on a winning streak to get them to the playoffs. In 2004 when they went on the winning streak, the starters went deep into games 7th inning and later during the entire streak. The key to that streak was good starting pitching. This team doesn't even have a reliable #2 that can regularly take the game into the late innings. The 3,4, and 5 slots give us 5 innings at best. Thanks for the starter Theo.

Since we're talking about the present (August), id rather he get 2 straight blown saves back in April than it is now. It is not good for him to go through this when his team really needs him to step up in a fading playoffs push

Well, i haven't been able to watch the recent games---but from everything i have seen and heard: these are the times when we really miss the damon's and millar's.....the guys who wouldn't let the clubhouse get down (especially millar)....If these guys don't figure out how to relax soon, they won't be playing in october.

I'm not talking just about Papelbon. I'm least upset with him. I mean in general, this team has been sucking so hardcore it's laughable. I'm pretty upset considering we have a 4 game losing streak to teams like Tampa Bay and Kansas City. No one on this team is doing anything.

 

Just call up the PawSox to finish the season, it will be good for them, right?

We're 3 games back in the east and 1.5 out of the wild card because we've free fallen out of first in the east and 3 games back will look like 8 by the end of next weekend at this rate. And that 1.5 will be 5.5.

I said before that if the Red Sox lost ground during the royals series that they will essentially be done. I know the sox have a ton of games left with the yankees, but you have to see that the yankees are getting tough away games out of the way while the sox are getting gimme games out of the way. The Yankees strength of schedule is decreasing by the day while the sox sos is getting higher. The Sox have played 9 consecutive games against teams that are either in last or second to last place in their divisions. 7 of those games were at home. The sox are 3-6 in those games. Playoff teams dont lose those games.

Its not just the team and the pictching, what about all of the injuries? I know Tek's bat wasnt hot, but his leadership is missed, wakefield, nixon, clement (who cares), and wells..this is never good regardless of what team you are and how bad you suck!

Lets just remember, the sox were up 4 in the loss column 3 weeks ago. They have dropped 8 games in the standings in 3 weeks playing against the dregs of the bigs. This is bad for the sox.
