a700 Hitter, you keep bitching about what could have, should have, and what your happy with. Come back to reality. Pedro and Damon were overpaid in terms of money and length of contract. Please stop beating a moot point, you posted that same damn thing time and time again. Its getting seriously old. The problem wasn't the money, it was the length of the contracts and a sleeze ball agent. When the contracts are complete then we can start discussing if it was a good or bad move.

Your insight in purely 20/20 in hindsight, Alqays after the fact. I will also add that it's almost always negative. Negative and pessimistic to the Red Sox and management with regards to past, present, and future. Your comments against the Yankees and thier fans are usually unfounded and made with bias, and animosity. I'm a Red Sox fan true and blue long before you and just about anyone here, but I can respect good ballplayers, good teams, and good moves ( acquisitions and trades ). Also, don't miss quote, paraphase, or interperlate what I have said, I have the ability to express my own thoughts and opinions.

Big deal, we didn't give away the house, farm and bank account to satisfy you just to make a trade at the deadline. Which I might add you'd probably criticize, or at least attempt to. You are not privy to, nor is anyoe on this site to the internal workings of the potential trades. There were NO block buster trades in Major League baseball. The reason being, was that the asking price was too high. The Yanks filled a few needs and probably did the best in the AL as far as improving thier team. Those players, and contracts would

not necessarily be a fit with the Sox and their future plans.

I'm not trying to pick a fight. I'm just saying that maybe it's time for your to be a little more positive for the Sox, and a little more respectful of other teams.

Hey sox fan, I do not want to step on anyone's toes as the new guy, but I do not really think that Damon or Pedro are overpaid in comparison to the market. Also, one question for you If the sox retained all of their 2004 parts, do you think they win the world series last yr or this yr? If so, then letting those guys walk was a bad move.

There's no chance in hell the Red Sox could have defeated the White Sox. Even if Pedro was in the rotation, he probably might win a game, but the White Sox pitching staff was too deep, and the bullpen too strong. In fact, the 2004 team was lucky. They were able to have their five starters make every start. In 2005, the team didn't get all the breaks it needed. Foulke was one of the worst closers in baseball, Schilling was one of the worst starters. More than Pedro Martinez, and Derek Lowe would be needed for the Red Sox to stave off a defeat.

It was hard to be positive after the debacle in Tampa this weekend, so that certainly colored my comments. However, I find it curious that you are asking me not to misquote or paraphrase what you say, but you accuse me of using 20-20 hindsight on Pedro and Damon. Nothing could be more false. I have been adamantly opposed to both moves since the days their signings were announced. On this board and other boards, I was told that it was too soon to judge the moves. I've maintained this position steadfastly throughout. I've watched 1 2/3 years of Pedro go by with him winning at a .700 clip. I will continue to reiterate my position that these moves were mistakes until the numbers bear me out. Many still support these moves and think that Pedro and Damon will not be performing at a high level by the end of their contracts. I disagree with this opinion. I think they will be highly productive throughout the terms of their contracts. That is my prediction. BTW if I am making a prediction regarding their future performance, how could I possibly be engaging in 20-20 hindsight. I am putting my opinion about future events out there and if I am wrong, I'll admit it.

So, now I we have to be nice to Yankee fans? They have certainly engaged in personal attacks and animosity toward me. I'll give as good as I get, but I don't attack a poster personally until I am attacked first. I will give as good (usually better) than I get. I'm not going to sit silent and be abused. I'm not pretending to be Mother Theresa.

While I think this ownership and management is much better and more professional than past owners during my lifetime, I do have an anti-management bias. I am much more apt to criticize the FO than the players. As long as people engage me and criticize me for my opinions, I will continue to respond and explain my positions. If I am dismissively told to root for the Yankees, my response will not be friendly in the least. Finally, please don't preach to me about respect. I have received an ample dose of disdain and disrespect from other posters for voicing my opinions. If you are going to be a referee step in a little earlier, or just let it play out.
