I know its a long ways away, but if the Sox were to make the playoffs and play in October, who would you want on the 25 man roster. (Assuming Nixon, Varitek, Wake and Foulke are back healthy).

Even though he sucks, I suspect Willie Harris will be called up, and may take Kaplers place on the playoff roster for emergency reasons and his versatility. Kapler doesnt really have a place on the roster with WMP doing what he can do and doing it better.

 

Willie Harris may never even get in to a game, and I am in no way saying he is better than Gabe Kapler, because he is not, but he is more versatile and gives them flexability in case of an emergency.

Nobody can deny Harris's speed, but im not so sure he is a basestealer. He would be on the roster as a pinch runner (not to steal bases, just for speed alone), and a emergency position player.

 

Speed does not always equal SB's. Donnie Sadler was probably the fastest man in baseball at one time but just could not put it together to steal bases. Jeff Bagwell is one of the greatest baserunners of all time and he is not considered a burner.

Isn't this a bit premature? The way the sox are playing, they are going to be golfing in October. They have to turn it around before you think playoffs.
