I was pleasantly surpised by Gabbard, whose minor league numbers aren't all that great. Hopefully he'll join Lester, Papelbon, Delcarmen, and Hansen as rookies anchoring our staff/bullpen.

If tito hadnt burned out A bullpen guys in the blow out last night, we could have one. But instead we had to throw out the old B team lineup of Taverez and Seanez

 

As I had said before, Hansen was brought in Friday night because he hadnt pitched in 4 days before then. Have to keep his arm fresh. Then in his 2nd inning of relief he gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. Who would you rather come into save the jam he got himself into? Timlin was the only questionable call really

 

On weei, they reported Rockies scouts were at the game. All signs indicate they were there to watch Rudy Seanez & Julian Tavarez. Both pitchers the Rockies have been talking to the Sox about. I think the Sox bit the bullet and just threw the 2 out there hoping the Rockies see anything that they like

I’m not sure if you’re saying the bullpen was managed as such that Tito deliberately held Tavarez and Seanez until the Saturday game in order to showcase the pair to the Rockies’ scouts. If that’s the case I think they got a true picture of Tavarez’s overall season: that in close situations he’s a liability. The Gonzo error wasn’t his fault, but 3 walks in 1.2 innings is unacceptable.

I didnt say Tito made sure Rudy & Julian were not pitching in Friday's game. Just that he had them showcased in the same day that Rockies scouts were there, it was a tied game and Tito like all of RSN knows how these guys manage under the bright lights. As I said Hansen (one of main set up men) hadnt pitched in 4 days before Friday. So that was a good move by Tito to get him some work to keep that arm fresh. He got in a jam and made it just a 4 run game with 2 men on/ 2 outs. Another good move by Tito by going to a reliable reliever in Manny to not let the M's battle back. Tavarez or Seanez shouldve pitched the 9th, but Tito's lone downside was bringing Timlin out to pitch there
