what about trading for David Murphy and/or a B-/B pitching prospect for Marcus Giles in the off season? We could put Marcus at second and Pedroia at short... that would be a pretty nifty Middle infield...

Pretty good article from MLB.com: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060707&content_id=1544616&vkey=news_mlb_nd&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb

I want to see Alex Gonzalez resigned, and a Cora/Pedroia platoon at 2nd.

Did you happen to be a Red Sox fan when Johnny left? Did you hear his comments? That's why he has a lack of loyalty. He openly lied to every single person in RSN. On top of that he lied about the offers he recieved in hopes to screw the Sox out of more money.

That being said I think I've made it clear I'm against trading Trot.

Ya, Damon was a bad example. I know you are against trading Trot and I think Trot deserves better than being traded in mid season...especially for a guy like Abreu. If he was in a trade for a good pitcher (ie Schimdt, Smoltz) I MAY be able to understand it, but not for Abreu.

may I ask what Loretta has done to guarentee that he should not be a starter for the near future?

I know he is not young, but he would be a good guy for Pedroia to learn from

Now that the White Sox are willing to give up either Vazquez or Garcia how 'bout trading a couple of B Level prospects(Murphy and Martinez or Buccholz) and a GOOD relief pitcher(would probably have to find a thrid team since the Red Sox bullpen already sucks)for Vazquez . Both pitchers' contracts go 'til 07 so I think Vazquez would probably be the best choice since the Red Sox would have to pay about 3 mil less a year

Is it a bad thing if I would be totally willing to trade Mike Timlin for Freddy Garcia? They say they want impact relief pitching... he is that... and I love Freddy G.

I have heard that the Red Sox have renewed trade interest/talks with the Twins about Brad Radke. At first I was shaking my head because last I heard he was just a Jason Johnson carbon copy

But however he has lowered his ERA considerably from season high 8.89 down to 4.97

In June (6 starts) 3-1, 2.09 ERA

In July (2 starts) 3.75 ERA

it depends on what the White Sox consider "impact relief pitching" We might not have to give up a whole lot. If they will take Tavarez and Seanez for Garcia, I'd go for it.

But, they probably aren't looking for that, since they are targeting Tom Gordon.

But we aren't the stupidest offer, the Mets want Garcia in exchange for Aaron Heilman

I will never pretend that Radke is a dominating starter, but to say he's a JJ clone is silly, and whoever told you that is a complete moron. For the last 3 years he's basically a 6-1 K-BB guy. Although his ERA isn't that of a cy young winner, he's reliable, and aside from his rookie year he has never finished a season with an ERA 5 or above. Like I said he wont be a lights out guy, but he also wont be a clone of that bum JJ. I'd feel much more comfortable with him in this rotation than Clement or Wells.

If I'm not mistaken we've attempted to get him a number of times in the past.

Maybe Theo's friend kevin Towers could help them out and giveup Linebrink for someone like Tavarez and a C prospect

if you mean a grade C prospect, yes we could send them Abe Alvarez

if you mean a catcher prospect, we have none

sorry, couldnt tell what the C meant

But the Padres want Seanez, not Tavarez and trading Linebrink probably is not on their agenda

I'd take Brad Radke or Freddy Garcia in a second compared to the crap we have pitching for us at this time. I remember the Red Sox going after Radke before and I'm not positive but I think its because he is an excellent pitcher for Fenway (that could be completely false I just remember hearing it). He doesn't walk a lot of guys and has been very consistant in his career.

As for trading Mike Timlin for Freddy Garcia (I'm not talking about Vazquez)...you do have to consider Timlin's age and he is showing signs of it. The time to trade him for something would be now. I like Mike Timlin but considering how these kids (Hansen, Papelbon, Delcarmen) are handling the situation....we can afford to move him before he falls apart. If we have the opportunity to move him for a quality starter who can eat some innings.....do it!

Cora is more versatile. He can play both SS and 2B.

We don't need a shortstop. We have a good shortstop, as a second baseman and hitter, Mark Loretta is the better player

You following Pedroia recently?

You realize Loretta is basically just a singles hitter?

You realize he's a lot older than Pedroia?

You realize that having a guy like Cora who can spell AGonz is quite valuable, as opposed to simply having him and two second basemen?

I understand that Pedroia is coming, but starting him full time next year probably is not going to happen, and I feel like another year with Loretta and Gonzo is better than Gonzo/Cora and Pedroia/Cora platoons in the middle

This year? Any year with consistency?

Loretta has played 593 games at second before this season, 328 at short, 175 at third, and 160 at first

loretta has good hands

his power is off but he hits for avg has a decent obp and handles 2nd base with agon like theyve been doing it for years

lorettas what??

34 perhaps??

a good baserunner a good glove a decent avg and the ability to turn 2 is what we need there

hes made this team much better despite graff doin alright for us last season

pedroia is making noise down there but isnt he being groomed for ss??

No he's being groomed to be the next 2nd baseman. He is only playing shortstop every third day, because its an insurance policy if god forbid one of the middle infielders get hurt during this season. His range and hands are best suited as a 2nd baseman.

Gonzalez & Loretta re both free agents. It would be a tough decision who to sign with Pedroia ready to make the bigs, but AGon's glove makes all the difference in the world.

I heard that if the Marlins run out of contention for the playoffs that they could be willing to part with Borowski and Moehler. The sox could probably get them for a couple prospects. Moehler when healthy can be better than Johnson and Synder and can move to the bullpen when Wells or Clement get back. Borowski give us a veteran pitcher in the bullpen.

He's only getting older. I really don't think he has the range/arm to play anywhere but 2nd/1st now.
