Even after a crushing 19 inning loss, the Sox still find themselves as the 3rd best team in baseball and top of the AL East with 3 games ahead of NY. At this point last season, the Sox had 5 less wins and were 2 1/2 games up. I see them having a very good 2nd half

MVP-- Manny. Ortiz has been flashier, but Manny is having a hell of a year, both at the plate and in the field.

Comeback Pitcher-- Beowulf

Comeback Position Player-- Lowell

Cy Young-- Papelbon

Best Glove -- Gonzo

Best Catch-- Coco vs. Wright, but Stern's dive to end the game with the bases loaded deserves mention.

Biggest Disappointment of a Pitcher -- Nuke LaLoosh (Beckett). We knew Clement would suck. I had higher hopes for Nuke.

2-3 ridiculously bad starts have blown up Beckett's ERA. Aside from that, he's been on par with Schilling. The only problem has been the 2-3 solo dingers he gives up a game, but the same can be said for Schilling. I put Clement cause I had hopes for him. I thought that he could be a respectable back-end starter with a low 4s ERA

I'm aware of what is driving his ERA in the wrong direction. 11/18 QS isn't bad, and he's earned his 11-4 record. That said, I still feel a let down due to his inconsistency. I expected nothing from Clement, and those expectations were met. I expected to be in the game 90% of the time or more with Nuke. His bad performances have been extremely bad, which doesn't keep us in the game, and that means he's fallen short of my expectations.

I can respect that. I agree that there's no excuse for a pitcher of Beckett's caliber to have outings, multiple outings at that, like the bad ones he had.

not necessarily him, but the fact that he is not making as much of an impact as Bronson Arroyo could be. Because one of the most glaring faults of this team is the lack of another quality starter.

Also the 26 Bombs, which is really bad.

Ray how can you put Harris as a disappointment when he is not an everyday player in the first place and is not very good to begin with.

I originally picked Harris as well. The reason, was that I'm really not disapointed in any of our position players. Eventually I ended up going with Tek, but I think that's where he's coming from.

you can lay disappointment at the hands of tek but give coco an honorable mention for his 14 rbi 1st half

sure

i know he was hurt for a while but 14 rbi with no power??

his gloves been fine but so has jteks and tek has done very very well with the staff outside beckett, who has his head too far up his own ass to see the signs that perhaps he dont know everything he should know and maybe its time to listen to the catcher for a change.

paps gets cy

papi gets mvp with an assist to manny without him it wouldnt be possible

Sorry, I ain't buying it.

Coco started the year hot and hasn't been the same since the injury. I don't think he's made a full recovery. The injury is probably healed, but the recovery isn't complete until the timing is back, and he hasn't got it back yet.

Tek has been awful.....for a year. A whole year. And, he's not doing the job behind the dish either. Everyone and anyone are swiping bags this year. It's not even close lately.

A stat has been dished out on weei, Tek's avg is .221 since his september slump

yuck, its beyond me how he is the 6 & sometimes 5 hitter in the lineup

MVP-- Ortiz, he will make a strong case again for AL MVP.

Comeback Pitcher-- Schilling.

Comeback Position Player-- Lowell

Cy Young-- Papelbon. Absolutely lights out.

Best Glove -- Gonzalez. Our left side of the infield is the best of any team I have been alive to see.

Best Catch-- Coco vs. the Mets

.

Biggest Disappointment of a Pitcher -- Clement. He let me down big time. I understand the Beckett thing, but for him there is still the second half and hes 26, has great stuff, and so far is proving capable of handling the work load. There are positives there. With Clement there are none. Watching Clement pitch for the Red Sox is about as comfortable as a prostate exam in public.

Biggest Disappointment of a Position Player -- Tek, but he gets a pass.
