I think it’s 10 days unless the recall is due to another player put on the DL. But what about JVB? He deserves another shot.

Has JVB been down for 10 days?

Way to support the kid in his debut defense. It's not like he doesn't have enough to deal with in Texas' lineup and the postcard strikezone tonight (not to mention the weather).

Directv now admits to a programming error, but can't say when the game will be back on:rolleyes: Can someone give me a heads up on what "bad D" happened. Gamecast doesn't do so well!

Because those misplays by Youk were not errors, the run iearned. What a burn. The ump had something to say to Lester when he left the mound---probably about him walking to the dugout on the prior pitch.

I would send him out for five, but I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't. If that was it for him, I'm pretty impressed. He got no calls, got bad defense, played a crappy game after a big delay and I have to say he kept them in it and gave a pretty good effort. Not to mention his first game in the bigs had to come with some serious nerves. Known for pretty good control in the minors, that probably explains that awesome pitch that hit the back stop on the fly. Hah.

I thought the run that just came in was unearned?

Youk let a popup fall for a double and on a sac bunt he threw to third but the guy was safe.

A good effort, not great but good. He showed some tools. Needs to work on his command. It will come. He has come a long way from ST when he looked like a High School pitcher.

He actually isn't that bad as he was in ST. Believe it or not Lester is good. I'm not saying this was a great start but cut the kid some slack, I'm quite impressed so far and he looks like he will come out for the 5th.

I don't know where you read he was known for good control. Every scouting report I've read about him raves about his stuff, for good reason, but the only warning flags have been his highish BB rates.

f***ing Trupiano. He had me out of my seat on Lowell's foul ball.

Did you read my post? I was n't criticizing him.

I wasn't accusing you of criticizing him.

And I've read many reports on Lester, and pretty much all of them have said he has good control. I don't think I've read a report that said he had bad control.

from soxprospects.com

Scouting Report: Very athletic lefty. 2-seam and 4-seam fastballs sit in the low 90's, top out in the mid-90s, and have good movement. Lester also utilizes an above-average change-up, an 11-to-5 curveball which sits in the low 70s, and in 2005 worked on developing a cutter. Easy delivery motion with good explosion, similar to Andy Pettitte. Power strikeout pitcher, uses his fastball and occasionally his curve as his out pitch. While Lester typically has top notch control, occasionally he will have games where his control of certain pitches is off. Very hard worker, prepares well for each game. Has also been compared to Mark Mulder. Great pickoff move.

I thought he showed a lot of promise. He just needs to refine his game. He had a lot to deal with today: adrenaline, the long wait, and the bad D, so it's hard to tell how much work his game needs. He deserves another start, and we will know a lot more after that.

I thought he did a good job, considering it was his first big leauge start, he had to sit around the club house all day, and he is pitching agiasnt the Rangers. Also I think it was the 4th, in which Youk made 2 Blunder, that could have been an easy inning.

Damnit Youk, he is having a rough evening

I wouldn’t be surprised if Youk doesn’t start in the first game tomorrow. He could use the break.
