youre saying the 2004 edition of the redsox were a money ball team i take it.

instead of telling me not to comment then why dont you justify dave roberts stealing 2nd base with 2 out in the 9th if indeed they were a money ball team....

2nd highest payroll in history and you call them a money ball team??

you should take your own advice.

Again, you have no clue what the concept of Moneyball is. The A's will send runners if they can run, but they severely limit those who they can send. The Red Sox sent Roberts to second, because he is arguably one of the best base stealers in the game, and against Mariano Rivera? Chances are, you're not going to get a lot of chances. I have no doubt in my mind that Macha would have sent Roberts had it been him in the Red Sox dugout. The Red Sox were playing for ONE run, not a whole bunch. It's not like it's 2-0 New York in the second inning.

Read the book first.

hit the nail on the head

i personally read the book (loved it) couple yrs ago

as for the second highest payroll, moneyball isnt just having a low payroll, its finding the highest economic value

an example-david ortiz didnt cost us all that much

manny-wasnt signed by the moneyball guys(theo and the trio)

the 04 sox were very high on obp

its not just about the overall payroll

As did you.

Everyone read the bolded part. That's the biggest emphasis of Moneyball.
