Nice read. Welcome to the life of a Yankee fan fellas. But hey, who am I to judge how hardcore, faithful, or loyal a fan is? You show your love for a team casually or a bit more wholeheartedly, but in the end the fan support (bandwagon fan or not) is good for baseball, and if it's good for baseball it's good for me.

"the life of a Yankee fan"

Ther is no such thing as a Yankee Fan. Whenever the team is trailing by 4 or more runs in the 6th inning at home, all the New Yorkers leave the stadium and all that's left are the tourists and the visiting team's fans.

Of course Tony Mazz, the columnist who wrote that Herald article, didn’t have any problem with those bandwagon fans who bought his book that he wrote after 2004.

This article is so true. They had a large segment about this on WEEI last Thursday or Friday that was just hilarious. Pink hat fans. Green hat fna.s whatever you want to clal it, they are everywhere now. And this is the reason why I am sometimes reluctant to say I love this team so much anymore. I've been pretty much a non diehard since they won, because all these newbies act like they've suffered a huge front of it. I've been a diehard Red Sox fan since I could pick up a glove. Most of these new fans don't even know who Tim Neahring, Danny Darwin, Luis Tiant or even who Troy O'Leary is. Go home, please. Stop pretending like you care. The good part of this is knowing most of these fans will go away in 2-3 years if the Sox don't win it again. Thank god.

Call me an idiot. But please, let me and the Boston Red Sox lose in peace.

Personally, a die hard fan myself, I don't understand the obsession other die hard fans have in needing to put down people who aren't as devoted as they are. Not everyone is going to revolve their lives around baseball, and I see nothing wrong with that. I welcome anyone who wants to support the Red Sox. I guess some people are just jealous they can't get seats at fenway because people who aren't as big of fans as they are take up the seats, but Fenway is still the best place to see a game.

I don't understand how you can get on people for wearing the pink or green hats though. The team sells them so people buy them. If your a female then maybe you want a pink hat with the Sox logo. On St Patricks day the team plays in a green uniform with green hats so maybe people liked the uni's. I have a bunch of red jersey Tshirts and one is of Ted Williams. I know he never wore the red jersey and probably didn't even have his name on a jersey back then but I'm still a huge fan of his and I like the look of the red jerseys. That doesn't mean I'm not a real fan.

Bandwagon fans buy merchandise, merchandise helps to pay for the team so I'm fine with it. You can tell who is a die hard fan when you talk to them about the Sox anyways. I have no problem with new fans. I just don't like people that switch teams. Thats just weird.

The Red Sox should have NEVER traded Johnny Damon. He was my favorite player when I started watching the olde towne teame in 2004 (I switched from the Twins because they suck LOL). Beantown!
