He's basically avoiding mentioning Tavarez & Seanez by name.

"Well it was a perfect game through 8, then it got really hairy in the 9th. Their offense was starting to kick in same time our guys couldnt throw strikes. Willie Harris made a big play that saved the day. We'll be able to look back at this game as a good win"

I cant criticize Tito for not sending Wake out for the 9th. The bullpen should’ve had no problem with this. If they can’t hold a 5 run lead then something is truly wrong. At least he had other pitchers warming before Seanez really went crazy.

I agree about not sending wake out--i mean a 5-0 lead against the rays:rolleyes: Seanez should be ejected tommorow from the team. I would give Tavarez another chance, but not a long leash. After watching the 9th again--i must say that the play by harris was amazing. His speed got him in the right spot charging the ball on an angle and still throws a strong strike to belli in time for belli to brace himself. (he did a good job deflecting gathright instead of getting run into) Tavarez and Seanez should go and give Harris their paychecks from today becuase he earned them. What was more amazing (or sad) was the fact that that last play was the first hit of the 9th inning (9 batters to the plate)

Welcome to boston willie harris---i think you botched some catchable balls recently, but when it mattered you came up huge. (not bad at the plate either)

Hopefully Shillingouttheks stayed for the whole game and can give us an "in person" account of what it was like there during the 9th!

Did Tito really say, "they're offense started to kick in when our guys weren't throwing strikes." They got ONE hit in the 9th. All the Rays hitters did was WALK.

I actually don't agree with taking Wake out. He was tosing a 5 hit shutout, 4 K's, 1 BB. There is every reason to rest the pen before a long trip, especially when Wake doesn't tax his arm like other guys, even at approaching 100 pitches. I guess he only likes to leave Schilling in for long innings.

Wake said tito asked him if he wanted to stay in. I don't know what wake said (someone at the door) but it sounded like his call!

Just saw another angle of the last play and Gathright was at 3rd when harris was in his throwing motion--i don't know if the 3rd base coach waved him or not--but if he did he should be out of a job because it wasn't close!

Ohh and how appropriate that Bonds hits #715 off of BK Kim  and the knucklehead fan drops the ball down where he can't get it---so security got it!

No he didn't say that (at least not in Terry's Take) He said that we had a lot of guys unavailable today and we couldn't throw strikes.

Dale Sveum would have waved him in.

with Timlin out, Tavarez/Seanez sucking, who knows what we'll get from Foulke and Riske, our bullpen should be very interesting in the next few weeks

but don't blame Tito for throwing out Wakefield in the 9th, especially after all the criticism he got here for leaving him in too long against the Yankees

Tito really needs to start using MDC and Riske instead of Seanez who he seems to have a love affair with. Yes Seanez has the ability to strike guys out but he is way too inconsistent at times and today is one of those times. The Sox are lucky they got away with one.

Why wait? Get rid of both of them tonight, NOW....Waiting accomplishes nothing. Both have been crap...and they will continue to be crap...and we cant afford to have two pieces of crap messing everything up.

They have been crap , literally, every time they have gone out to the mound.

INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING , OVER AND OVER, THAT HAS NBOT WORKED, AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT.

It is insanity to keep them.

Bring up any two guys I dont care who...they cant be any worse. and Maybe better, who knows until we try.

The way this season is going we need everyu single win because of the way Detroit and Chicago are playing...we win the division or we are out...and one game, one inning, on pitch, can make the difference.

These two guys have to be kicked down...NOW.

Now, I am going to go back to the Pats board where I am nice and quiet, mild and meek mannered. :harhar:

Wakefield should NEVER pitch against the Yankees...NEVER....IMO, work around him...there is a thing when he pitches against them...and it wil never go away...WAKEFIELD SHOULD NEVER PITCH AGAINST THE YANKEES....IM humble O of course.

He's not that bad against them as youre making it out to be. He's been a workhorse when facing them and has pitched his share of gems. Now Clement, thats the one pitcher they should work the rotation around to avoid when facing NY

And Toronto for that matter, with the exception being his last start against them

You won't like tommorow then!

The 9th inning implosion brought back bad memories of the Closer By Committee Era from a couple of years ago. I’m not sure if today was just an aberration but would anyone trust Seanez’s reliability to be used in a 9th inning situation?

I was at the game today and I was ready to run onto the field and get Tavarez's and Seanez's heads on silver platters. The place was enraged at seeing those two fruitcakes out there. Luckily, Willie friggin' Harris has a huge day and we slightly edge the Rays.

Coco got an unbelievable ovation during the pre-game announcement of his spot in the lineup. It was deafening. You probably didn't see anything on TV in terms of an ovation, but believe me, it was LOUD during the pre-game. Pumped to see him back finally.

I don't understand why Tito didn't bring in Delcarmen or Van Buren, just anyone besides Seanez and Tavarez. Hell, call up Dave McCarty and tell him to get his ass over to Fenway. The boos were insane when a ball was thrown by those two. They haven't been stepping up at all recently. Even though we won the game, Tavarez was bailed out by Harris' OF assist. Doesn't change the fact that he still sucks. I swear, if they blew that game for Wakefield I was going to throw a fit.

Good to see the lineup producing without Manny in there. What a day from Willie Harris.... I still don't believe he deserves a spot on this team. I don't care how good of a day he had. I want Kapler back.

Anyway, good job with the thread Riverside, it looks like my mojo loves you :D

I'll continue the gamethreads tomorrow unless anyone has any objections or thinks Riverside should start it. What a great day. I LOVE THE RED SOX.

Well we gave him a shot with a 5 run lead and look what happened,,,he may be relegated to blow out roles. (which is what yesterday felt like before the 9th)
