OK, did anyone else watch the NBA DRaft Preview last night on ESPN, during which Andy Katz said that the Celtics are involved in all sorts of trades. One had them jumping to number one to get Morrison by giving up Al Jefferson and Gerald Green, and another had them going into a 3 way deal in which they would get Allen Iverson, giving up Green Jefferson and another player. This trade involved Philly and Cleveland with Drew Gooden in the mix. Katz said both were possibilities to be done by draft time.

BIG NO on the Morisson for Green and Jefferson trade

I dont want to see those two traded at the same time

yeah, same, but the Szcerbiak to Utah Boozer to Philly and Iverson to Boston trade would really work for me

If they can deal just Wally for Iverson, I would absolutely make the trade. Even if we give Utah/Philly our pick and get one of theres in return it would be a great deal.

ok on the Iverson deal, Cleveland is now the 3rd party with Drew Gooden possibly involved, but we would likely also have to give up either Jefferson or Green, not both

ESPN is reporting that the Celtics have pulled off a trade, sending their No. 7 pick to the Blazers for Sebastian Telfair.

That means the Blazers now have the fourth and seventh picks in tonight's draft, while Boston picks up a young point guard with a lot of promise. Dan Dickau may be thrown in the deal, but it's not official yet. Telfair was the 13th pick in the 2004 draft. The Celtics are also saying that the Allen Iverson deal is not dead, and he could end up in Boston or Philly. Jun. 28 - 4:56 pm et

looks like the celtics arent drafting anyone tonight.

I like the move. Telfair, IMO is going to be better than Marcus Williams.

new news, we are about to draft Rajon Rondo thru the Suns all we have to do is pay Brain Grant's salary

did this happen or was it just a rumor? I cant find this anywhere.

just read in a couple places, that the Celtics made all these deals tonight as part of a bigger plan to bring in Iverson

It did happen. Its on espn.com.

More was involved (according to the guys on air during the draft)...y'all got Grant, and Money (made no sense to me...but thats what they said... or maybe you guys sent US money...I dunno) and your sending us a future first round pick...

Makes PERFECT sense to me why we (the Suns) did it. We want to keep EVERYONE we have, because we believe that we are VERY close to a championship with the team we have. Although I would love to have drafted a young star...A) We already have a few, and B ) we have a great team as it is. So I'm happy the guys in our FO did the right thing.

i have no idea why the Knicks drafted that kid, they could have had Marcus Williams

and they could have picked him up as an undrafted free agent

im not sure, but i think the Front Office is afraid we will have to give up Telfair for Iverson, it does not seem like we would draft Rondo if he wasnt. I want to keep Telfair, make up another package of players to get Iverson.

HoopsHype.com has a nice listing of the draft with a good approximation of the first-round picks' salaries for their rookie seasons. Sort of puts last night's proceedings into perspective.

Bargnani will make about $3.62 million next year. Rudy Gay was thought to be Charlotte's choice at No. 3 but instead slipped to Houston at No. 8. That drop cost him about $1.1 million next year. Marcus Williams' $882,000 salary will ensure that he won't need to swipe any more laptops....sorry I couldn't pass that joke up.
