Is it okay with everyone if I go to bed? I know you people get kind of antsy if Yankee fans don't post when the Yankees lose.

Nope, you have to take your lumps. I kid, I kid. Honestly, you were the only one that stuck around all of last night and didn't magically show up after the Yankees took the lead. You're OK in my book. Have a good night.

well, back into a tie for first with the sawx...in the loss column (which is all that matters)....

I can't WAIT until you cry at the end of the season when the Red Sox take the division and you're sitting there with your thumb in your ass screaming "BUT ITS A TIE IN THE LOSS COLUMN!"

edit: Although this isn't possible....

Unless the Yanks can't win both of those game that they need to win to catch up. Better hope Moose is on the hill for both of them, because I don't like your chances otherwise.

we should still beat any team in the league and we should have won today....

Sure is if we win the season series against them, like they did last year against us (both 95-67).

A shot to their octane offense is having to do without Sheffield, and a longer absence now from Matsui. Their pitching needs to better even more now.

Uhh, not even worth it this late!:D

This is the first time i scored the game. some cool facts about the game.

-David Ortiz,Jason Varitek and Manny Ramirez were the only hitter on the Sox to not have a hit in the game.

-except for David Ortiz, every hitter hasn't waited as long as 2 innings to hit again.

-The Red had no hits in the 2nd and 8th inning and that is it.

-when a Red Sox Hitter was in a full count 2 out of the 4 times the red sox hitter gets on base

Which is exactly why a lot of yankee fans are worried right now. It's still early in the year though! The one thing i would be concerned about is matsui---sounds like it could be a tricky injury especially if he needs surgery---time will tell i guess!

I'm confused and hopefully someone can clarify....how did Tim Wakefield get the win???

He was in the game still when the sox took the lead....They made the pitching change after the lead was taken in effect wakefield gets the win.

papelbon--0.44 era (best for a closer) with a league leading 13 save

also only has 3 walks in 20.1 innings to go along with 18 K's

Dennis Eckersley did bring up a good point, Matsui's in for a long rehab which quite possibly might set up a trade for an outfielder. They mentioned several times our old buddy Jay Payton, who didnt actually leave Boston on good terms. Another option for them would try to acquire Carlos Lee. Though I bet that he would cost them Hughes.

Any quality player will cost the Yanks a decent size ransom. Teams know they will be desperate.

...nevermind answered my own questions

well except for the 1st and 4th innings (when all the yanks runs were in) he was lights out he had 9 k's.

but his score is a 54 not that great but at least it's not a cheap win

EDIT: Sorry misread the question. Forget this post

Wow, great outcome. 5-3, and Rivera giving up a run is a good sign :D

On another note, Matsui's injury was nasty (I just saw it as I didn't catch much of the game), poor guy...I may hate the Yankees but I don't wish harm on anyone.

Nice series, and hopefully it goes like this alot. :D

god help our pitching staff if they get Lee

They won't get Lee. Unless they are willing to part with the likes of Hughes, Duncan, Tabata they have no shot at someone like Lee.

Yeah dude...I mean why would Milwaukee do something like that? That would cause them to go backwards (they are on the rise, and getting unproven rookies, would set them back some time).

Yankees are the better team regardless of Matsui. That's why they keep winning the division. Nothing will change that until the Redsox win the division. Let's all remember the Yankees were what 11-19 last year and still won it...
