Yes Alvarez is a good pitcher but no he is not an Arroyo. Bronson is still young and is developing right now. He will be an excellent pitcher as the seasons fly by him. I'm not saying Alvarez is bad because he too will have a great career when his time comes. Arroyo will most likely always be better then alvarez because they are both young good pitchers that will grow and develop but Arroyo has the edge right now.

Willie will be a 40 HR 130 RBI man one day. Just look at Papi, let go by the Twins cause he lacked POWER. Red Sox Future is great. We have excellent pitching in AAA plus some gloves. We will do just fine with Pena......Arroyo is a good player but last year he could not decide if hw wanted to be a rock star or a pitcher.

Yeah, right now, but Alvarez, if he comes up and proves to be an excellent 5th starter then the argument becomes not so ludacris. I guess what I'm asking is, if anyone thinks Alvarez could turn out to be Arroyo's replacement, production wise?

Yeah, but nobody knows if he will come up and be an excellent 5th starter.

I would be shocked to see Alvarez have a great career or even a good career. He was overdrafted by the Sox in 2003 when their were better players on the board.

exactly. Alvarez doesnt have stuff and unfortunately he doesnt have depth perception...

We have barely seen any of Alvarez.We saw him last year I believe twice or at least noticabley. One was where he closed out a game and one where I missed the game. I don't think he is a closer and I am not saying he will be good but he cna be good. He will probably be someone that pitches for a team like the Reds or Pirates in the future. How old is he anyways?

Bronson Arroyo is a proven major league pitcher. Abe Alvarez will be very lucky if he even ends up in a major league rotation.
