ARod is elite and strikes out a lot too, as most sluggers do, thus your knock on Sexson is invalidated. He does not compare ARod to Sexson, he shows the hole in your logic.

When I saw that you were in this thread I only knew it was a matter of time. Its ok to strike out is you have the OPS that those guys have but a career 881 OPS(which is good but not on any of those guys level) combined with striking out 150+ per year does not make you in elite player. Since you chimed in do you believe Sexson is an elite player?

I think he's just below elite, but not by a lot. And not by enough to make 700's point invalid, which is really what this is all about. It is a semantical argument whereby the Yankee fans here want to discredit Beckett's performance thus far. Say the opposition was weak, therefore the performance is less impressive.

There cant be a baseball arguement (esp with Yankee fans) with you not involved. I however relize that when you post I'm just reading what I can read at baseball prospectus. Beckett's proformence was fine however just because a lineup has 2 good hitters in it, it doesnt mean the other 7 must be good. In the Mariners case they have a solid line up with there best hitter Ichiro struggling.

Nope, you couldn't be more wrong. I know I'm a novice at baseball analysis, and I readily admit it. That said, I will call you out when I see bad/faulty logic or statistical incorrectness. Please tell me your not comparing Alex Rodriguez to Richie Sexson. This could be quite possibly the dumbiest post of all time. A-rod has 81 OPS points on Sexson career wise. NUFF SAID........A-Rod, Pujols, Manny, Vlad, Bonds all elite. Sexson is on the next level below. Alot of people have a tendency to lump the very good in with the truly great. The people I mentioned above all one day will end up in the HOF thus the elite status. Does Richie Sexson still belong in that group? I think his high K totals rebuffs your theory on the relation of K's to whether or not someone can be an elite offensive player. I made no comparison between the two players. Before you make an assumption as to the meaning of a post and call it the "dumiest post of all time," you should take a second read of the post to make sure it says what you think it says. I clearly did not make the comparison. You are double owned.

I merely pointed out the fact that ARod has struck out 131 and 139 times in the last 2 years. He is, as you stated, in the top 5 offensive players. I think his high K totals rebuffs your theory on the relation of K's to whether or not someone can be an elite offensive player. I made no comparison between the two players. You are still missing the point. If Sexson is not an elite player, that is a separate question. Whether a player is elite is not directly related to how many times they K. I illustrated this point by using ARod as an example. That was my original owning of you. Since you don't know when to stop getting owned, I'll spare you.
