http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif#38 Curt Schilling (1-0, 2.57)

Ecstatic Schilling set to face O's

Boston (3-1) at Baltimore (2-2), 4:35 p.m. ET

The last few days have likely gone slowly for Red Sox ace Curt Schilling. When he pitches like he did in Monday's opener against the Rangers, all Schilling wants to do is take the ball again.

He'll get that chance on Saturday when he faces the Orioles.

While Schilling, as the stopper, is often called on to halt a losing streak, this time his job is to keep the momentum on Boston's side. The Red Sox have come out of the gate strong, winning three of their first four.

The Orioles counter with left-hander Bruce Chen, who spent part of the 2003 season with the Red Sox.

Schilling is ecstatic with the way he feels, both from a physical and mental standpoint.

"This has been almost two years since I've felt even remotely close to this," Schilling said. "This is what I felt like in 2002."

Not that I really believe in this stuff, but why mess with SOTKs mojo? It's not like the Sox were stellar in your last game thread. Don't tempt fate.

EDIT: This thing updates itself, cool. It appears to have moved a bit, so I'm feeling more optimistic about this game getting played.

I don't believe in that stuff, that's why.

Yeah, I just checked weather.com and it says it's going to rain until at least 6pm. Not sure we'll get this one in. :(

If it's the same system that came through the south last night, I really doubt it because of all the lightening.

That's fine, neither to do I. But I think it's fun to let streaks run their course, and I just don't understand your insatiable desire to create the game thread. And don't act like that desire doesn't exist. You routinely make the following statement when you create one early, "I'm busy tomorrow, so I had to make it tonight." That is wrong; you never have to make it. You just want to so bad that you can't wait.

If it is going to stop raining by 6 pm, why can't they play it? Just make it a 7 pm start like usual, instead of the 4:30 start.

I don't know if Baltimore has a mega-tarp, but if they don't, the field will be in pretty s***** shape after 20+ straight hours of rain (it hasn't stopped since it started late in the game last night). That is why they may not get this one in.

The Sox return to CY for a series in May (15-17). Both teams have the 18th off and begin interleague play close by on the 19th. The Sox travel to Philly. The O's are in D.C. I would imagine they'll make it up then instead of a DH on Sunday.

Oh, okay. Thanks. I just assumed that they had the field tarped.

The IF is definitely tarped, but the mega-tarp covers the rest. I'd bet money they have one, so if the rains clears out by 7:00 or so, then I think they'll get the game in. Time to check the radar......

EDIT: Nevermind, the image I posted updates itself. Nifty. It looks like the front has moved a bit. Keep on truckin' rain.

 Dude, I might be a believer. I had a really good record last year if I remember correctly. And also, hahaaha out of all the Yankee game threads THIS year, I started one and that's the only game the Yanks won

Yeah he also made a RIDICULOUS amount of them last year. go to like page 2 and 3 of the game thread forum.

rotoworld

Orioles designated LHP Eric DuBose for assignment.

There's a good chance that DuBose will be claimed, and if so, we're guessing the Orioles are going to regret this at some point. The left-hander probably won't ever turn into the fourth or fifth starter the team was hoping he'd become, but the Orioles hardly have so much pitching depth that they can afford to give it away.

With this move, today they have called up short lived Sox reliever John Halama.

Does anyone have a final count of W/L records for game threads from last year? I thought someone had compiled that.

I had but I kind of stopped doing it after awhile because I didn't know anyone but me cared about that kind of stuff. All I know was that I was about 10 games under .500 or something like that.

If you look really close in the bottom left hand corner, you can see me!:D It's still raining pretty good here and it's moving through here and up towards baltimore. CY is about 2.45 from here! They don't have a megatarp, at least not on the field so that field isn't in great shape! I just have a feeling this one isn't getting played today!

Puh-lease. Let's not get into a caring too much about something discussion, Mr. "I have to make the game thread".

Personally, I don't care who makes the game thread, but I think they should only be open to first come first serve after a loss. I know they don't matter, but I think a winning streak should be respected.

I agree with ORS, that's the way SOSH does it to. I say you make it until they lose and if the person hasn't made it within 3 hours of the game then it's up for grabs.

Anyone tried the new ESPN GameCast? That thing rules. It's animated. You see a ball moving from the mound to the plate, and you see the ball being put in play. Gameday, the bar has been raised*.

*Although, I do like the format of Gameday better.

The ESPN Gamecast doesn't really work too well with my firefox. I can't resize the window so I cant really see the "home plate" and the right side of my window is cut off. It also seems that there may be a little too much going on and there's nothing really there that MLB GameDay doesn't bring you, so I think I'll continue to use that.

So uh, does that mean I would make it tomorrow anyway? Hahah this is so weird.

Well I guess that if you can't make a thread in the middle of a winning streak you kind of lose your priority so to speak.

What's your screen size resolution set to? I had the same problem with Gameday last year, but I found I only needed to adjust the diplay settings to get more on the screen.
