I couldn't agree with you anymore, Willy Mo is no upgrade for our team. I just can't see him doing anything. I've seen what he did in Cincy, and it wasn't anything great. Like i've saId before, I don't want a guy that strikes out every 3 at bat. That ain't production

If that happened, then I don't think Bronson Arroyo would be the answer to that. You'd need divine intervention to stop that downfall. But, just for the sake of argument, let's say that we are hit with injuries to that amount.

 

The Red Sox have plenty of viable options who make much less, and have equal or more upside then Arroyo. Jonathan Papelbon, could easily step in and be a very good starting pitcher. Lenny Dinardo, could equal Arroyo's numbers as a starter. Jon Lester whom could be ready by July, has way higher upside then Arroyo.

 

It's not often, you're offered outfielders with 35 HR power potential for a fifth starter. Even if Pena never improves his OBP skills, he's still a great fourth outfielder, who mashes lefties.

For now, if nixon gets hurt, or you want to platoon with him, i say throw stern over there. After this year, and Nixon leaves, pull Mo out, and then see what he can do.

I agree....kind of.

 

I don't know if WMP can play CF, but it would never hurt to give him a shot Stern will have his struggles. One of the problems I see is the lineup. With Stern in the lineup he can clearly bat leadoff, but WMP is no leadoff hitter. We could move Loretta up to leadoff and maybe put Varitek/Nixon/Youk in the #2 spot?
