Am I the only one who can't stand all the hype that goes into the NCAA tourney every year? I feel like the sport news outlets just constantly ram this thing down on us untuil we finally submitted. Given the choice between watching a baseball game or watching the final four, I wouldn't even think twice. Maybe it's because NY is not a college town, but I just don't see the point of watching something you have nothing invested in (unless you're gambling). ESPN, FOXSports, Sportsline, CNNSI all going on and on about brakcetology. I've had my fill of it.

Your clearly nuts. The Final 4 is the most exciting sports event of the year, because anyone can win. Are every teams chances good? No of course not, but all of the 64 teams in the tourney have a chance to win. Even if you don't have a team to cheer for you can pick any of the great cinderella stories every year.

Hearing about the Final 4 is definatly more interesting than listen to ESPN, FOXsports, etc. blow the Yankees and listen to how they're gonna win the World Series eventhough they have no pitching staff.

I think you are the only one who doesn't like this tournament. Its clearly one of if not the best sporting event of the year.

See I think you can even take the one of out of that sentance and it'd still be true. There is nothing more exciting than the Final 4 tourney, and there is no sporting event better.

Nope. I hate college basketball. March madness is an evil that must be put up with before the baseball season can begin.

I'll take any Yankee-Red Sox spring training game over whatever Final Four matchup you throw at me. I just don't see the point of investing any rooting energy in a team I have absolutely no interest in.

Well duh. And if I didn't like baseball I wouldn't understand why I'd have any interest in watching an MLB game. Obviously if you don't follow college hoops you're not gonna care about the tourney.

It's exciting because ANYTHING can happen, any team can upset any other team in any given game. I had Syracuse going to the Final Four last year and they got beat by VERMONT in the first round. It is by far the most exciting thing in the sports world.

You're comparing fighting to basketball .... ooooooook

Well you're talking about the drama, etc. Obviously both are differen things, but the "rush" is the same, depending on which one you prefer. Both are sporting events with unpredictable results. Watching a 98 pound twerp like Gracie take out a 300 pounder is just as exciting as watching any underdog in sports knock out the favorite.

No... it really isn't.

March Madness is the best time of the year. ESPN isn't 'shoving it down our throat' when it's something the general public wants to consume. Even people who don't care about basketball usually get involved, fill out a bracket and watch the best basketball of the year. Every time you turn on the TV there's a chance you'll see a team expected to go far in the tournament getting bounced by a team who was just 'happy to be there' going into the game.

thats ridiculous to call it the best basketball. Even the Knicks could beat every single one of those teams in the tourney. Thats like saying the Litle League Word Series si the best baseball out there or that the Pop Warner 7 year old championship is the best football out there

Many of the NBA players are just earning their paycheck, but the college guys are out there busting their asses because most of them don't know any other way to play. Of course the worst NBA team is probably better than the best NCAA team, no one denied that. March Madness is just so exciting and that really can't be found anywhere else in sports.

Like I said, you can say that about the local junior high school tournament also.

... how is it like saying that? I'm not saying they're the most talented basketball players in the world. I'm saying it's the most exciting basketball to watch all year. When you take a look at the skill level, the heart that the kids show compared to the seemingly care-free NBA players, and the fact that most of the games come down to the wire, it's easily the best basketball of the year. Are you trying to suggest that a meaningless Knicks game is more exciting?

Look dude, obviously if you don't care about something before hand you're not going to care about it during it. I don't care about the NBA at all, so obviously I don't question it when I don't give a damn about the playoffs. I don't give a damn about golf so I don't question it when I dont give a damn about .... whatever the hell their biggest event it. I don't give a s*** about tennis. I dont give a s*** about Nascar.

Seems like you just made this thread to argue with people.

The hype for NASCAR, NBA, golf and tennis comes nowhere near the hype for the NCAA tournament. I dont get told a million times about how NASCAR is the most exciting thing in the world.

Right but see the more people that like something the more hype it gets. Get over the fact that you're in the minority. Do you think I like the fact that I have to have the Yankees and Barry Bonds stuffed down my throat every time I turn on ESPN during baseball season?

well you said best basketball, not most exciting. There's been some playground games I've seen where people really got into it, these guys are playing for 100 bux a game and they're killing themselves and each other to win. That's pretty exciting to watch also. That's what the NCAAs feel like to me. If they're not good enough to be in the NBA, they might as well be playing a pickup game.

and I see you posting about the Yankees and Bonds. So why can't I post about the NCAAs?

You can feel free to post all you want about to tournament, but don't start a thread about how much you hate it. Have I made a thread about hating Bonds or the Yankees?

Does it really matter if someone hates something that most other people like? I mean Hehateme is entitled to his own opinion and maybe he prefers UFC over this but thats his choice. I myself really enjoy the NCAA Tourney but I can live with the fact that one person doesn't like it.

Ok the GMU-UConn game made me eat my words. That was just amazing all around. I havent paid so much attention to a basketball game all year.

The Connecticut/Washington game wasn't too bad either. There's been all sorts of amazing finishes this year.
