Yeah, next muderer who shoots someone should just say, hey it's their fault for not getting out of the way of the bullet.

Your one liners really suck.

Posted
Those two examples are completely different. Duffy knows that a ball is coming and knows it could end up anywhere. Walking up and throwing something at someone is hardly the same unless you say ... "hey try to hit this" ... then throw it at them

You can't expect the ball to hit you. If you start to, then you probably suck at hitting.

Shut up and pitch, Curt. The fact that he has beaned two people in ST is message enough to the rest of the league, no need to open his mouth about it. His comments have, in essence, made his teammates targets when he is pitching and someone gets brushed by him.

Thank you. Schill has a history of opening his mouth at bad times, and he should just feel bad that he hit a guy, say sorry, and move on.

But we all know he's not going to ... so why the hell do we need to discuss it.

Posted
So he should just get away with it?

Well what does talking about it do? Just make his comments anger you even longer than they should. The discussion serves no purpose.

Posted
Well, we should discuss it because people are defending him saying "Oh well yeah Duffy shoulda gotten out of the way blah blah..." when they know Schilling shouldn't have said the guy he just gave a concussion should have backed out. It's also annoying when people say "Oh yeah well Clemens did this and that.." well, Clemens isn't the focus point here. We're talking about Schilling. The point is, Schilling hit the guy in the head, and shouldn't have said that it was Duffy's fault. Probably shouldn't have said anything. And to start talking about Clemens in here is irrelevant.

like I said, please don't say anything if Ortiz or someone gets nailed in the head for being too comfortable with Randy. In fact, I look forward to your post proclaiming what a great and smart pitcher Randy is for hitting people in the head to make them back off the plate.

Look it's not like the guy who hit Tony C was murdered, accidents happen, it's not like Schilling throws at people's heads every chance he gets. Also hitters respect Randy so the chances are a bit slimmer that would happen, I think we would all agree he has had a much better career than Schilling. Also, the concussion was mild, not like the Damon one in 03 where Damon maybe lost like 1238109381 brain cells and became what an idiot he is today, granted its still serious and in no way am I saying it's nothing to get hit in the head.

It's spring training. There's no need to be throwing inside. Blaming the batter just exacerbates everything.

Funny, I thought the whole purpose of spring training was to practice what you want so you can get ready for the season. You know, work on what you want to get better at?

Yeah, next muderer who shoots someone should just say, hey it's their fault for not getting out of the way of the bullet.

Nice try, but that's apples and oranges. The purpose of a murder is to hit them with the bullet---shill's purpose was not to hit the guy, but to back him off the plate! But that was a nice shot at comparing a shill to a murderer:rolleyes:

Curt Schilling is a moron we all know that, but this is untrue. He should throw inside in ST otherwise he won't comfortable doing it in the season.

I was standing less than 90 feet from home plate when he got hit. He should have gotten out of the way. It was a glancing blow that was not really a big deal. Duffy must have an eggshell skull if he got a concussion.

It has nothing to do with the strength of your skull, and everything to do with having a blow to the head hard enough to jar the brain.

BTW I'd hardly call a 90MPH heater a glancing blow.

Duffy has to shut up and stop being a whiny little bitch.

Duffy's manager has to shut up and be a major league baseball manager, not the bitches mommy.

If you don't sign a major league contract, you won't have to worry about getting hit by a baseball.

Schilling may be an arrogant jackass sometimes, but that's got nothing to do with this Duffy cat being a pussy.

I wonder what the reaction would be if a Red Sox player got hit instead

I dont remember Jim Tracy saying anything. I could be wrong, but I really dont remember hearing him say anything.

He didn't say anything actually, if he did I didn't see the quotes.

Then he must have a pencil neck that was inadequate to absorb the shock without rattling his brain. Whether something is a glancing blow has nothing to do with the velocity of the projectile. It has to do with the angle of the impact. The ball did not hit Duffy flush. It hit him in a glancing manner.

Schilling: Blame it on his lack of reflexes

a700hitter: Blame it on his weak neck, weak skull, etc.

This is getting ridiculous

It was a big non-event. Very few people in the crowd registered much concern. It's been the post-mortem that has created any incident.

Have you ever been beaned before?

Yes, but not by a 90 mph pitch, and I have not been hit by a car either, but I could tell that it would be worse to go under the wheels than to get hit a glancing blow by the side of the vehicle.
