If Pats los Vinateiri over just a gap of $500,000... I wont know where my faith will be in the Pats F.O. The options are Edinger who averages 10 missed field goals a season, and most of his games have been played in a dome. Then there's the jackass Vandergat, oh yeah he's clutch... when it doesnt count. No matter who they find, no kicker will be good as Vinny and they know that

Agreed. But if its .5 to 1 Million times how many years ? Would that be 3,4 or 5 ? Also how is it structured ? If sure if its close to the Pats calculations, they'll match it.

Its just amazing what other teams will pay for crap players.

And the funny thing is the Raiders keep doing it when they bring in guys like Sapp, Bobby Hamilton, Poole, and other scrubs way past their prime.

Julian Peterson when healthy is a very good player. Too bad injuries have derailed him the last few seasons. I would have liked the Patriots to bring him in.

Stick to baseball. You have no football knowledge at all. In fact, you should probably switch to badminton; since no one here probably knows anything about that, you could probably fake like you know something.

Anyone who says that they'd lose faith in the Patriots front office should be shot. Seriously did you actually say that? That's just stupid. They should build Scott Pioli a statue, and assign people to carry him around Boston.

When the Pats are 20 million under the cap they shouldn't even consider losing a player such as a Adam over a few hundred thousand dollars. Its pretty pathetic how cheap the Pats have looked recently. I'm not mad about losing McGinest because of his age but the Patriots didn't even make a competitive offer to Adam. I could have sworn the Pats were a large market team. They need to stop acting like they are Cincinnati or some other small market team.

WEEI's Michael Holley just reported on the radio that Adam Vinateri has agreed in principle to a contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

Great Job this offseason Bill Belichick.....Really spending up to the cap.

I can't believe you guys. You have the balls to rip a guy who won THREE SUPER BOWLS. Holy s***, it's true. Pats fans are Yankee fans.

What the hell? How can you doubt what this team is doing? They won 3 out of 4 Super Bowls, I think they know what theyre doing.

You should be wiping Belichick's, Pioli's, and Kraft's ass for them. Like I said, how can you doubt what they do?

Do I like what they have been doing? No. Do I trust what they are doing? Yes.

I im in disbelief, anywhere but the Colts (who is our biggest rival, even though not in same division). Honestly who can stick up for the Patriots FO now?

Options

Vanderjagt (clutch doesnt define him)

Edinger (averages 10 missed FGs a season)

draft market?

unknown free agent kickers?

This is the straw that breaks the back of their philosophy of letting players walk and see if they can get the better offer

I can stick up for them and I know many others can as well. Don't you think it's a little early to judge that. How soon you forget this last season. Our entire secondary was decimated with injuries yet we still won the AFC East, it is ludicrous to throw 3 Super Bowls out the door because we lost 3 valuable players. Wait until you see the results on the field before you judge this. It hurts to lose players you love and have watched for years but it is sadly part of the business in the NFL today.

jsinger you should be shot for that comment. You're talking about Bill f***ing Belichick. I hate how we, as Pats fans (from what I've seen so far), suddenly think we can get everything done just because we are the Pats. What the hell? Seriously guys. Smack yourselves to reality. And don't ever, EVER, rip on Bill Belichick. Ever again.

Just watched channel 5 tv. According to Adam, he justs want out of Foxborrow and the Pats. He has not signed with the Colts yet. Pats have made offers, but got no response. Thanks for the memories... see you Adam.

I have honestly seen 4 or 5 people that are actually sane about the Pats this offseason. Some people need to realize that the Pats have a strict plan to go by. Theyve done that the last few years and it won them three Super Bowls. Now they lose 3 of their better players and everythings gone to s***? I dont think so, theres still this guy, his name is Tom Brady? Ever heard of him? Hes kind of a big deal... people know him.Im confident this team will get things sorted out and have themselves another fine year.

I know full well, and respect what the Patriots team & players have given us. I was just asking, whose our kicker? Who can even come close to what Vinny has done? Sorry for me being way of the Pats getting a kicker who will be in the veins of Giants & Cowboys kickers of last season.

And to others on here, Dont question me being a fan. This is the one move thats got me heated

Paul Edinger from the Bears and of course Vanderjagt are still available. I personally think they'll sign Edinger who is an above average kicker and he has kicked in cold weather environments like Chicago and he goes to Green Bay once a year. We may not have the best kicker anymore but if we sign Edinger then I will be satisfied with our kicking game. Sometimes we have to settle for a notch below the best and that's just where Edinger is. We can survive without Vinatieri.

20 Million under the cap and the Pats are sitting back just whistling in the sun. If the Pats had made even a competitive offer to him and did it earlier then maybe this could have been avoided.

How do you know they are "whistling in the sun?"

We've seen time and time again that the Pats don't act like we expect them to. There could be a huge trade or something going down that we don't know about. Or some other negotiations behind teh scenes. Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft are living proof of success in this franchise. It sounds VERY much like you are giving up on them.

Posted
I'm not giving up on them. I am questioning how spend their money when they are 20 million under the cap. Vinateri should have been a priority. They have brought 3 guys in so far that we know of. Caldwell who signed and Fabini and Mawae who both signed elsewhere. The Pats after falling short last season should have been agressive in free agency to fix to holes on the roster most noteably cornerback.

Jsinger and Riverside are 1-2 on my list of people to s*** on once the Pats come back and win the division again.

I'm not saying they won't win the Division but they have obviously dropped off a bit from being an elite team. And the Dolphins are creaping up on the Pats at a fast rate. Vinateri is the difference in maybe winning an extra 2-3 games a season and the fact the Pats couldn't put the money up for him when they are large market team is sad.
