I'd really like to see the DR face Cuba, Both teams have eben slammin HRs, especially beltre with 3 in 2 games, and of course Big Papi. But that Dominican lineup has really lived up to expectation

Wow just checked the score to see it's 16-0 in the 3rd with the USA still batting--someone please put south africa out of their misery and call this game!

Yeah, the mercy rule is as follows.

 

15-run lead after 5

10-run lead after 7

 

It's now 16-0 going into the bottom of the 3rd. The U.S. needs to hold them for their next 3 turns at the plate (if they don't score anymore runs - I wouldn't put money on them not doing it at this point).

It was ion UPN here in NY so I got to see it, and let me tell you. After the game against Canada this was good to see. Not much that can be said about this game, as we pretty much kicked their ass to South Africa and back.

Ok honestly I expected the U.S.A to destory the South Africans. I hope the U.S take the whole thing seeing as how Canada is out It's only right that I now cheer for the U.S.A. And the Cuba Puerto Rico game was kinda boring the only exciting thing for me was the bomb the Beltran hit and that's about it. I'm saying we will see a U.S.A vs Dominican Republic final.

I don't know how I feel about this, but I think in a USA v Domican final, I'd find myself rooting for the Dominican. This whole WBC doesn't really measure up to the world cup on the patriotic furvor scale. I'd rather have the team of Ortiz and Pedro win than the team of Clemens and not Ortiz or Pedro. :dunno:

I agree. It seems like the Latin countries are much more into it and I think they deserve to win. Plus we owe so many of our players to the Domincan (Papi, Pedro, Manny), so I kinda hope they win it.

I love how you guys, and a few of these players, think they're actually doing something for their country by playing in this tournament. They're putting a uniform with their country's name on the front on and playing a game. It's meaningless.

 

All these guys could be doing much more important things right now, like (for guys like Damon) getting adjusted to playing with new teams or (for the rest) getting back into shape with their teams. You know, what this time of the year is supposed to be about.

Teams aren't countries, they aren't cities; they're groups of athletes who go out there and play a game.
