Korea looked VERY good in my opinion. Especially Seo. I wouldnt be surprised if they went deep in this tournament. They are definately my sleeper. And although my pick for the final 4 teams are US, Japan, DR, and Cuba; I totally wouldnt be surprised if Korea ended up there. And if anyone strayed up to watch the game, did you guys notice how EMPTY that place was. There was literally NOBODY there for the Korea/Taiwan game, it was ridiculous.

As for Japan, obviously a different story for their game. Place was much more filled, though still a lot of empty seats. But as for Japan on the field, they too looked VERY good. They TORE UP China, 18-2 I believe in 8 innings due to the mercy rule. Nobody expected Japan to be a power team in this thing, but they had 3 homers in the game, and just put on an offensive SHOW.

OK , so the next game i'll be able to see is Korea vs China tonight at 9 (on UPN), you guys wont be able to see it until like midnight, I believe. But I predict that Korea wins, just based on how good and fundamentally sound they looked in their first game, and how bad Chinca looked against Japan.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. That means no SmackDown!. Just kidding, the game isn't on UPN here. It's on ESPN2, which I assume just like everywhere in the country.

As for my sig, in the mid-70's, the Giants were planning to move to Toronto. I don't know what stopped them. Then in the early 90's, they were set to move to Tampa until Peter Magowan purchased the team and kept them in San Fran.

Wow. Yea, now that you mention it I vaguely remember reading about the Toronto thing at one point, but the TB thing is new to me.

But yea, no Smackdown until Saturday for people in the New York/Tri-State area.

But yea, on UPN here, it'll be live, while when you guys catch it on ESPN2, it will be on delay.

China doesnt even have any amateur baseball leagues. It only started its baseball program like 10 years ago, if even that long. Anyone would look against them right now.

Can't blame them for trying to move. Can't imagine Asians and Homosexuals to be that crazy about baseball, though if they took out the word base, you might one of the two groups ot show up more often

Ok Honestly I don't think Chinese-Tapei has any chance of winning against Japan. Japan is way too strong and I wouldn't be surprised to see them mercy Chinese-Tapei just like they did China last night. I think the final score will be 15-3 Japan.

This WBC is just a big no-event. Who care to watch Japan trash China in a completely non-competitive game. I have had the Baseball package since PrimeStar was a satellite provider. I watch baseball every night and go to spring training every year, yet this WBC is just not interesting to me. I hope they never do this again.

What are you talking about? Baseball is very popular in Asia. Although its mainly Japan and Korea, the popularity is there.

Korea is leading China 9-0 in the 7th inning in front of an empty stadium. Yawn. Great move, Bud Selig.

You were able to watch the game prior to ESPN2 airing it at midnight? How.

The reason i could is that appearantly the NY UPN provider got rights to the WBC or something, and we got to see it live here in NY while the rest of the country had to wait until midnight to tune in. But if you got to see it live too, then thats cool. I'm curious how though (as I am still trying to figure out what the deal with the UPN thing is).

OK, for those of you watching it now, you still have some time left. I'm going to give my analysis on the game now, so if you dont want to know the outcome before you see the end of the game..stop reading

Again, the Korean pitching was VERY impressive. Thats pretty much all there is to it. Despite the China homer in the 9th, Korea's pitching has been very good over the last 2 games. Now granted, they havent exactly been facing offensive powerhouses (although Chinese Taipei is pretty good), so we'll be able to tell more about their pitching when they play Japan tomorrow. Regardless, with the 9-1 win tonight, in addition to their win yesterday, Korea will be advancing to the next round. Like I said yesterday, these guys are my sleeper.

I'm pretty sure he's a New Yorker.

I don't doubt that baseball is popular in Asia, but looking at the very empty stadium in Tokyo I don't think there is a lot of interest or excitement in Asia for the WBC.

The whole tournament is a sleeper.

The crowd for the Japan game yesterday was pretty good. Not as many people as there should have been, but certainly more than there were for the Korea/Chinese Taipei. But that isnt saying much. I had more people in my house today than the Tokyo Dome had fans for that game last night (and for the record, the largest ammount of people in my house at any given time today was 5  )

Chinese-Taipei destroyed China today 12-3. I was kinda surprised that China had the weakest team coming out of that pool. My guess would have been Chinese-Taipei to finish last in Pool A.

Chinese Taipei has more baseball experience. Baseball is still a very young sport in China. Not very many play it. No surprise to me that China got swept. And not just swept, annihilated.

..the game of the night/morning though has to be Korea/Japan to determine the winner of Pool A competition. HUGE WIN FOR KOREA. Both teams were guaranteed advancement in the tournament coming into this morning's game, however were playing for the right to say they had the best record among Pool A teams. And let me tell you, Japan is one of my picks for the whole tournament, and I picked them for this game as well, but Korea's pitching, especially in the bullpen on this particular morning, was OUTSTANDING. Japan scored the two runs early, but were pretty much shut down the rest of the way. The two performances that impressed me most were those by Dae-sung Koo; who was just released by the Mets within the last week, and Chan Ho Park, who has struggled the past few years. They were VERY GOOD against this dangerous Japan lineup. I didnt see when Korea put the 2 runs on the board, the tying, and go ahead, because I was watching my 5 year old brother this morning, and he wanted to play Playstation  , so I really cant comment on that. But with the performance of the Korea bullpen, before they scored those runs I was willing to almost guarantee that the game finish 2-1 in favor of Japan. However that was not the case, as we know, and Korea prevailed as the Champions of Pool A, and Asia (sort of putting to rest Ichiro's quote saying that Korea and Chinese Taipei were nowhere near the level that Japan was). And now, with what i've seen the last 3 days, Korea has emerged as one of my favorites from here on out.

I dont think they win this thing, or advance farther than Japan (I still have to stick with the notion that Japan is still superior to Korea when it comes to the Baseball department based on the facts that they are much more advanced, and much more accomplished), although I wouldnt be completely shocked if they did.

But I still stick with my stance that the final four competing in the semis are the 4 power-houses; America, Dominican Republic, Japan, and Cuba.

I have been very pleased with the WBC so far (if you havent noticed  ) and hope to see more good play.

Go Korea!

You might be congratulating Korea in a few weeks.

Mark my words

The all around offense isnt there for Korea, though they do have a couple of offensive weapons. But if they continue to pitch this well, then I think they can go far.

I wonder what happens with the proposal that states if the Korean WBC team makes it to the semi-finals, the players are exempt from the mandatory 2 years of military service (which is required by all men appearantly).

I'm back in Orlando from FSU for Spring Break, so I think tomorrow I'm gonna go watch Big Papi and the Domincans play at Disney.

You won't find a ticket. The D.R. vs. Venezuela game was sold out a month ago when I ordered tickets to Friday's D.R. vs Australia game. Good luck.

I don't understand why he's starting Schneider instead of Varitek and Winn instead of Wells 2 moves that I just don't get at all.
