wow awesome the game is actually coming in through mlb.com . Haha the 2 Twins announcers for like several minutes didnt even know they were live. One was picking his ear while talking to his producer, the other one was talking about how he had to call his wife. Great stuff

 

On a sadder note, Twins' great Kirby Puckett has suffered a stroke my thoughts & prayers will be with him

What a play by Flaherty & Wakefield

 

Bases loaded-- passed ball, Flaherty dove for the ball and flipped it to Wakefield. Wake took the brunt of the runner sliding home and held onto the ball. Out #3

Riske & Seanez are still showing some rust thus far. 3 runs given up by riske in 2 innings, 2 runs so far for Seanez in 1 inning. I hope they can get anything down Pat

0-4 against the grapefruit league, the double-header sweep against the college series doesnt count. Also something absent is HRs, zero in the first 6 spring training games. Im aching to see or hear about a Sox HR

well manny, ortiz, and varitek have not played for the sox yet so that has something to do with no homeruns

I would too but it is still early in the spring and I am not worried about homeruns. they will come eventually.

Ive heard a good # of times that Coco is a first pitch hitter and he doesnt take his pitches. But early on he has been taking and making the pitchers work, something I bet we are all loving. Papa Jack probably has been doing some work with him.

 

Willie Harris has been havin lengthy ABs also, expect him to inhabit Stern's role in late April. It could be sooner because Im starting to hear again that he might be hurt, Jason Bay could be moved to center in the WBC if its pro-longed.

When the Sox had him the first time, he bombed out. I don't know why they would give him another chance at a greatly increased price.

some of the money might not be guaranteed so I believe the sox could cut him loose if they wanted to. still it was a questionable signing and a signing I would not have made when you have arms such as Hansen and Delcarmen ready to fill the same role at a fraction of the cost.

I hope you are right about getting the ability to get out of a portion of the contract. I have never been enthusiastic about this signing. I'd rather have give Scott Williamson another shot. I read that he might be the odd man out of the Cubs pen.

scott williamson can't stay healthy. he has had a ton of arm problems in the past 3 seasons and its tough to trust a guy who can't stay healthy.

He's probably dirt cheap right now, and I'd rather take a chance on him than Seanez, who failed miserably in his first stint with the Red Sox.

youk hit the first homer of the spring but it was against team australia.

Beckett has given up 2 homeruns so far to Julio Lugo and Jonny Gomes and this is only in the 1st inning.

It's alright, happens to everyone. Getting the rust off, he'll be fine. New uniform and new atmosphere with new teammates can get to you sometimes. Or, he could just be having a bad day. Nothing to worry about quite yet.

I'm definitely not worried at all. Besides both lugo and gomes are good hitters.

If it keeps up, maybe there's cause for some concern, but not yet.

The reason they hit him hard was because he used his fastball a majority of the time, and Snow says he was throwin gas.

First spring training start, so its just a workout really for him. He'll get better

 

Other notes, Mohr is looking good thru spring training, of course his 2-run jack had helped. Machado is still looking good, I hope to see him up in Boston again

hopefully he can take whatever stop that Pedroia doesnt take and about Beckett, he will be fine it is just Spring after all
